your opinion? in my opinion, its stupid. i get stuck in a ton of flame wars EVERY DAY. people who say: "oh, its so terrible, everything he says about me MUST be true!" are total flippin' idiots.

if someone pmed me via minerealm/rs/facebook/any other place, telling me nobody loves me/i will die soon/they will beat me up/ they know where i live/ ECT. i would put it in my signature for people to laugh at.

there are people who agree with me. frankly, anyone who actually contacts major news papers, or starts riots about cyber bullying are people who cant survive the internet. now that, is just pathetic. hell, thats more pathetic then magikarp.

It is stupid Nick, but unfortunately people die from this type of bullying. If everyone would stop being dicks towards people, then this wouldn't happen. People couldn't sink lower than to say insults on a computer, not just because they couldn't say it to them in real life. The worst part for me is when my grade have consoling from a cop on how bad it is. Those auditiorium meetings are the worst. What do they think teens are? Idiots? Only a few immature kids are the bad ones. Not the whole class.

the people who die from this either:

A. actually had the bullier pursue them irl and make their life a living hell just to get them to kill themselves
B. not actually cyber bullying. some people use dumb excuses(i do not want to go into detail) that are not even cyber bullying.
C. the person is actually a psycho path who hunted them down (calm down, children, this is unlikely.)
D. they have a mental illness that makes them really deppressed and suicidal. they go to the computer to find a home from irl. they get flamed. that, is their parents fault for being idiots.

i hate bullying conferences. they are cheesy, kind of weird, and you learn the same things every time.

I think that you should not be so judgemental as i am assuming you have never been cyber bullied to the same extent as many. Sure you can vouch your opinion but saying things such as they are pathetic, is a pretty strong statement.

cyber bullying is basically threatening people, insulting them, ect over the internet. i think its funny that some one would be so stupid that they actually spend their life making people unhappy. i also think its dumb that people would be dumb about this and act like their life is ruined.

Cyber bullying turns into real bullying FAST. I know this first hand, I was cyber bullied at school only a few years ago. Just a few badly animated videos of me turned into about 5-8 people all annoying me at once. If you haven't been bullied then you have no idea what it's like.

i think the case your thinking of is where some girls online boyfriend bullied her. your example you said someone, so you probably don't care what some random person says or thinks about you, but imagine your lonely to the point where you go online to look for a significant other, so that combined with said significant other talking down to you, it must be pretty bad.

The thing is, some people don't have real lives, so they have to go to the internet to make social lives for themselves. This seems sad, but how the internet has evolved has made it very possible for people to become engrossed in their lives on the internet.

I'm sure that because a person is too annoying/ugly/unlikeable/etc. to make a real life for themselves, that they have to make a virtual life for themselves would make that person pretty depressed already. But if they start to be bullied on the internet (realize that the internet is their life) then if you look at it at a mental perspective, it would be surprising if they didn't kill themselves.

There are also instances where people will cyber bully someone they know in real life. For example, the bully that Johnnklein described. This would make it seem like they bullied wouldn't be able to escape from the bully, even on the internet, he is bullied.

As stated, you obviously haven't been bullied, and if you have, you haven't been bullied enough. I agree, it sounds like a menial thing to worry about, but it's a real problem. People's psyches could be screwed for life because of this, suicides happen, killers, alcoholics, rapists, etc. are made mostly because of bullying. It's a real problem that needs to be dealt with.

Now, don't take me for an ultra-zealous killer of trollz and cyber bullies. I'm okay with trolling, as long as it's an innocent thing like "hurr durr, press alt+f4 to chat, hurr durr" That's fine with me as long as it creates lulz. Something like "No one will ever love you" and "I know where you live and I will kill you" Isn't cool and should be reported to the position of authority on whatever website you're on, or if on facebook, to the police.

tl;dr: I'm against cyber bullying, but innocent trolling is fine.

You also have to see it from the Bully's view. Most bullies do what they do because their role model does it, they have been a victim before and doing this will ease their pain, they need to put others down to feel better etc. The point is that is people accepted bullies and gave them some attention, these acts of stupidity and slanderous attacks could easily be prevented.
