Wouldn't it make more sense to say, "that offended me, can you stop?" And honestly, if vv would of said that then I would of.

Like, do you not believe that men tend to have more muscle than women? Just because someone says that statement, doesn't mean they are sexist. It's true that men tend to have more humor. Jokes. Etc... that's what's wrong with society. You say one thing about a girl or one thing about another race and get discriminated against. For this exact reason is the white man the most discriminated class.

The point being, I don't see how this comment can get me banned. Since when does this server ban for opinions? Maybe if it is dragged on for a period of time. But this was literally 5 minutes. And the simple fact that if she thought it was offending, that she would say stop.

None of that was meant to be sexist nor was it meant to disrespect vv. It was way overplayed for something so simple. No disrespect or anything.

I feel like grey area bans like this should treated slightly different and have a little more leniency as compared to other bans such where the ban is clearly just. Everyone has a different type of humor and we all know that and I've experienced that myself quite often. I've laughed at movies that my mother would be very offended to watching. (You know the one with Bam I can't say the title for obvious reasons.) But I've experienced other types of humor too such as the jokes I heard at a classical concert I attended. Perhaps the crudest humor of all is humor on the internet and the definition of "family-friendly" changes from person to person.

What I'm trying to say, if you didn't read the rest of this, is that river33 did not receive a warning on a ban that could be considered to be a gray-zone. On that technicality, as a fellow player NOT STAFF I firmly place my opinion that he should be unbanned.

BUT, I can't say that my humor didn't go a little far. She is probably going to mention what I said, but I already know. I thought it was funny... and well... She didn't.

You clearly acknowledged what you said was over the line and disrespectful. So why are you still questioning it?

Like seriously after what you said was this comment even necessary? As I said your "humor" over pushed bounds from "opinion" as you are calling it into personal territory. Whether it was funny or not is debatable but in a "Real workplace"(since you want to try and compare) these comment would not only get you in trouble but most likely fired. And yet again I have to bring up the fact this is a family friendly server which such comments shouldn't be said irregardless.

You were banned for disrespect not for your opinion as I said you already acknowledge that fact. Whether you weren't trying to be or not, it's what got you banned and I am inclined to agree with it based on what I've looked over.

Sorry to interfere (and I understand I wasn't present at the time, so by all means, correct me where I'm wrong--I would wholeheartedly appreciate that), but was river ever warned that his comment was rude or inappropriate? Some people have different standards on what's what. What may be a (hopefully based) fact to one person may be a rude opinion to another.

Could river have better indicated that his comments meant no offense? Absolutely
Could a warning have indicated that these comments were offensive? I don't know if one was given, but it probably could have defused this situation

Just like cubeguy, I too was trying to stay out of this but I just can't. I think the biggest issue right now is that river did not in fact get any kind of warning. There should always be warnings. You swear, you get a warning, you snowball someone, you get a warning.. ect. I don't see how this is any different. If he had been warned and continued then this ban would make a lot more sense.

In fact, I say " It's your time of the month" to all my female friends because it's funny. That is why i keep pointing out that she should of warned me before banning me, that is why I am upset about this. You shouldn't be able to just ban someone without even warning them.

Don't we even have a rule for killing someone on our own plot with first asking them to leave??

River, I've had lots of experiences with staff. And one thing I know is that discussing with them about how you're right when you're not never works (and if it does, 5% of the time). Just apologize for what you did, hopefully get unbanned, and done. That's all you have to do. Pretty simple, isn't it?

There should have been a private warning for sure. A quick mention that comments are being perceived as disrespect to staff and further commenting in such a manner would result in a ban, would have probably shut River up.

The first comments River made were simply stupid, but not ban worthy. The second comments were definitely over the line and it is in that middle zone where maybe a kick with a message "next time it's a ban" would have been warranted, but that's really up to staff now isn't it.

However it sounds like River and VV have bad blood, that most definitely exacerbated the confrontation, and I think the deciding factor was that VV is staff and has the power to ban.

We can't really talk about what's "family friendly" or not, because plenty of regulars make plenty of questionable comments in the wee hours of the morning and nothing happens.

Sorry, I think this is poor modding. Could have and should have been handled differently.
