First of all, my apologies if this thread is in the wrong section.

Anyway, I ran an auction that ended 2.5 weeks ago, and I was recently finally able to contact the winner, only to discover that he/she (identity protection ^_^) no longer had the credits that he/she had bid on the item(s). Is withdrawing a bid thus after a certain amount of time considered relatively permissible, or is the user required to obtain the credits and perform the trade?

Thanks,

If you and the buyer both want to cancel the auction, you can do so. But if you'd like to follow through on this arrangement, then the auction winner is obligated to follow through:

I believe one staff member (Ael, maybe?) posted quite some time ago that a buyer can be compelled to sell realms to the server if necessary to come up with the credits to make the agreed-upon payment. Couldn't find that quote, though...

They are obligated to pay regardless, it is a inconvenience to the seller if someone uses there credits ect.

So at the point they tell you they don't have the credits you have a few choices, most it comes down to what the seller will accept-

A: Take items of value instead of credits
B: Wait for them to pay
C: Ban request - You'd lose out on the credits but they are backing out on the rules thus breaking them
D: Both seller and buyer both agree to just call it off and you can resell

So in short, it is your call on what you do with the situation but they in the end have to pay you or they have broken the rules.

You could also choose to sell to the runner-up, with the winner paying the difference in credits.

And yes, I have stated before that anyone that could not manage their credits well enough to hold up their winning bid can be compelled to sell as many realms as necessary to produce the requisite amount of money.
