I was in the nether and saw that there was a griefed area so I went to check it out. I looked how far down the hole went and I was shot with an arrow into the hole. Then they jumped down and hit me for my few hearts remaining. I went back to check it out, with nothing this time, and saw their little squigglies from the effects of an invisibility potion.

So, you got killed with pvp in the nether. And?

As kero implied, that's not bannable, nether is free for all. But also, if you needed their names for some reason, you could simply turn pvp on and your death notice would show up showing who killed you. You could only ban request them for harassment, however, and since the nether is basically a free for all zone even if they kept on killing you it's not harasment :/

My ban request is for the fact that they made a hole in the nether spawn, which has got plenty of people banned before.

Generally speaking, people who have reaches the point where they have invis potions are also smart enough to not grief around nether spawn. There are also lots of people who drink invis potions, than lurk around nether spawn to kill those who come there. I think there is a much higher chance that it was a random person with invis, than that it was a griefer with invis potions.
