I think this may be hard as the effectiveness of the grinder is directly proportional to the number of portals in the nether. A portal in the nether directly adjacent to another portal is actually 9 spaces away in the overworld in Minerealm. The overworld side of the grinder would need to be 100x100 (my estimate) to be more effective than just hunting pigmen in the nether.

I would really like to see this attemted though just to see if it works. TPS are not really affected that much once the portal is created (nther or overworld side). Pigmen going though the portal will only affect TPS neligabley as there will not be many of them go though a portal at the same time.

It doesn't matter what the arrangement of the portals in the nether is. Zombie pigmen have a chance to spawn at a netherportal in the overworld without having gone through the portal from the nether. (So this mean they will also spawn if the nether is not loaded/generated)

One thing that might work against you on MineRealm is the fact that MineRealm is set to easy. I believe in the video he said he was playing on hard difficulty. Here's a quote from the MineCraft wiki.

Zombie Pigmen rarely spawn near portals in the overworld, but only one at a time. They spawn twice as often on Normal difficulty as on Easy, and three times as often on Hard difficulty compared to Easy. No other mobs can be spawned by Nether Portals in this way, in any dimension.

Expect less than a third of the pigmen you see in the video.

There are a few technical issues you'll need to consider to get a gold farm working effectively in MineRealm, but I'll let you have the fun of working those out for yourself

There is a stack more work in building one of these than in making an iron farm (due to the obby and trapdoors) and I suspect production rates are a lot lower. As such I don't think the price of gold will crash - it'll just be a bit more available, and slightly lower in price.

My current price point is 7.5k including tax per stack of gold blocks, or trade for a stack of diamonds. Discount for the diamonds because I prefer them to credits

To be honest, I was planning to build this back in 2012. However, I have other means to attend to and Arcane as whole seemed to be busy so we do not currently have one.

The 7.5k/stack price was based on a per block price I found somewhere around spawn in an abandoned shop. Prices may drop over time as more farms come online and supply exceeds demand, but it hasn't been hurting sales to date. Not many people sell gold blocks by the stack and nobody thus far (AFAIK) has been able to supply to order. Most of my sales have been 1:1 trades for diamonds anyway, so effective sale price around 6k.

I can assure you that if you'd spent the weeks of mind-numbing obsidian mining to build one of these, you'd be keen on getting a good return on your investment too
