After having a bit of a wander yesterday I came across a city build that has been disbanded I'm assuming.
It has also been griefed quite a bit.

So my question would be, what are the rules regarding realm purchase & restoration?
I had a look but couldn't find any here, although no doubt someone will find them and point it out

Obviously I will check with staff to see when the creators were last on before doing anything.
Just seems a shame for these realms to be left as easy targets for grief

Well you already know the first step it seems: speak with staff and have them check it out to see whether the builder is truly inactive, or if the area is only recently abandoned/griefed. If you are given the OK to purchase and restore the realm, just remember not to take anything from chests - if the original owner returns, you need to give him his items back.
