I used to be against a wipe but the lack of untouched land has made me change my mind. A wipe would get rid of the ridiculous amounts of wealth that has been produced and would force everyone to actually play minecraft again rather than creative without flying.

I would also be for a public realm wipe again though, I understand it's hard to give up everything that was built and gathered.

Maaaybe a public realm wipe. But certainly not a complete wipe. If that happens, I will probably just quit minecraft altogether :/.

And about wealth, the good part about the credit system is that anyone can just quarry out a realm and immediately be as rich as the richest players, without having some kind of advantage. The problem is, it's not that fun to break 200k blocks to get 100k credits, which is why there is a 'wealth curve' IMO.

Problem is, we get the crazy jigsaw puzzle that happened the last time. That's even worse than torn-up public land. The jigsaw puzzle is much harder to fix. People who have established towns far off might have the land around them become barren ocean.

Eventually (provided minecraft and minerealm stick around this long), the map will become so used that it will completely turn off newbs. Every piece of land will be flattened and every ocean covered with dirt. But I assume at this point, all the realms will have been bought. :S At which point I think a map extension would make the most sense.

All the land is still fixable. I occasionally buy up public realms with something terrible built on them, wait 60 days, then tear it down and sell the realms back to the server.

To me, the only reasonable time for Minerealm to start fresh is if absolutely every ore and resource has been mined and used up. If this were to ever happen, I would wholeheartedly agree with a refresh. However, the chances of this happening in the next few years is quite minute. That is, if Minerealm is open for the next few years.

Intelli said quite a long time ago (About a year and a half) that the current map will be permanent, and we have all been putting our time and effort into making this map great under that pretense. Perhaps one day it will become necessary to expand the map with more space for regular gameplay, but for now, there is plenty of public land. In any event, the map you see is not going anywhere any time soon.

He's new and hasn't learned the ropes, and he isn't attached to this map like the rest of us who have made big builds on it. Hence why I explained my rationale for voting no instead of saying it's stupid.

I suggest this idea every day (at least in my head due to the bashing it gets). Its getting to the point where its starting to feel rubbish to come on every day to play on a server that has been the same for almost 2 years. Yes we have memories and yes we all worked hard for everything we have now. The excuse that we'd have cobble shacks or that the land will look rubbish are just all excuses. Look at spawn at the start. Cobble shacks, land that had death falls everywhere you went and then look at it now. Clean, sectioned off, and boring. That is one part of minecraft, starting over. A lot of members that used to play on the server have said it before and say it now, they are bored because there is nothing to achieve. Now of course this suggestion will get Rejected, it does every month it is brought up, but sooner or later everyone that has said no will start to think that it is a good idea, even if you think it for just a minute. I am +1 +1 +1 for this idea. No matter the backlash it gets. I think of it this way, if we all got our wealth once, we can all do it again with a new fresh looking map and new ideas to build on.
