Currently when we type /realm in a realm it will inform us whether it is public or private, if it is private it informs us of who the current owner is.

I had the idea that if the realm is public and we were to type /realm that it would display the most recent owner, so that if we buy a realm we know who's items may still be in any chests we may stumble upon, so that we can contact them so they can retrieve their items if they wish.

On a side note, if we buy a realm and there is items there what do we do with them if no-one contacts us asking if they can have them back?

I believe you can keep them after two weeks.

For stuff like that, if they don't retrieve the items within 2 weeks, it's all yours.
Second off, I prefer just setting my realm MOTD to "Contact <player> if you used to live here!"

See now, that's what I thought the "rule" (loosely using the word rule here) was but I have never seen it written on the forums anywhere or clarified by an admin.

That may be fine for you and some other players but some players may want to set their MOTD as something else. Also you and the person claiming they used to live there would have no proof if they did or not without the assistance of a member of staff.

It's an official rule, but isn't written down anywhere. I've confirmed with staff about it before and several others have, too. Two weeks to claim their stuff, if they don't come back for it, it's all yours.

[Edit] That is true, but then what if the realm you purchased was never bought before? Then you'd still have to call staff over to see if you can purchase the land.

Good point, but it would still eliminate some of the times that staff needs to be called.
