It is my firm belief that the majority of the time people do not want to "have a fight with someone", they, more precisely, want to "ambush someone and take their goodies." Stop trying to characterizing basically what amounts to permissible griefing as some sort of 'noble sportsmanship' nonsense.
Yet while I'm working in the Nether, I know that I'm going to be attacked. When two attackers in enchanted diamond come in, and try to kill me, that's when I'm going to actually turn and fight. Yet, it's those attackers decide to run, and log out.
And I'm not saying anything about 'noble sportsmanship' here, I'm saying that I like it when I can actually fight people, and not have them run.

First off, I do not camp. Secondly, no one wants to walk to an arena for one fight, and usually if they do, there will be others waiting with PvP on to attack afterwards. In the Nether, one can fight someone, and the other attacker will have to be above/near the person who survived. Where the person who had won the fight could get to a portal in time.

I really don't care that much about items, seeing as how they usually break in lasting fights. The only reason I'd need their items is to repair mine.
