About Yourself:
I am a fan of playing sandbox games, such as Minecraft, and games that have some sandbox element, as this stretches my ideas further. I am still in school, my subjects being Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computing. I also do outdoor and indoor rowing as well as weightlifting/powerlifting whilst I am not socialising, doing work or playing Minecraft/Skyrim. I have been on Minerealm regularly since the beginning of October (besides my banning), making my forum account a few weeks afterwards. I am also quite a Harry Potter fan.
Qualifications:
My first major experience in moderating came roughly six years ago when I was a regular player of Habbo Hotel and joined a Harry Potter community named -[Hogwarts]-. Here, I took the role of a professor who taught Harry Potter related lessons; posted fun ideas for the community as well as moderated the behaviour of students in the -[Hogwarts]- community. At this moment in time, I took on 7 jobs with the same task, as progressed to a Head of Department of one subject and even further, to Supervisor (which is along the lines of Head Mod/Admin). Here I learnt to communicate and deal with people from ages ranging from 10 to as old as 23, as well as gave me a broader perspective as to events that can be fun for all ages. This also tested my ability to analyse a situation effectively and take the most appropriate action.
My second major experience came two years ago in the form of LumosAlliance, a Harry Potter forum-based RPG. This was initially in the form of being a Prefect (Student Staff, Moderator), and I was given the responsibility of observing threads to ensure that posts kept within PG13, among other rules; explaining the rules to new players who are not sure about a certain rule and drafting up fun ideas for the community, which had to be run through the Staff (Professors, Moderators with a few more powers). The forum had a much larger member base than -[Hogwarts]-, so I here I learned to cope with higher demand from a larger number of people, as well as keep up with higher staff so the moderating and idea systems moved smoothly.
I enjoyed being a Prefect for a term (4 months) before succeeding in becoming Quidditch Professor. Although this gave me more powers and the ability to write lessons and fun homeworks, which I have already done before, this time I had the responsibility of making sure Student Staff kept in check; with organising the Quidditch on the forums for the community. This massively increased the work demand that I had to do, and taught me how to organise a large number of tasks to make my life and everyone else's a lot easier. Being a professor also taught me to use my judgement as to which punishment was appropriate for a certain rule breaking, something I wasn't able to learn as much whilst being a Prefect. I enjoyed being a Quidditch Professor for a year, before leaving the Staff to make my real life A Level transition easier. If you, for whatever reason, wish to confirm this is true, you may visit the site and ask the Headmaster whether I was Staff there. My username on the said account is 'Florence Dingleby'.
In school, I was a Computing Prefect. I had a responsibility to ensure that students are dressed according to code and ensure that students are not abusing the Computer Rooms (abusing meaning playing games, or attempting to do rather cheekier things). Although, I always offer a hand to students and teachers who are stuck with a certain problem. I also help coach younger, intrepid rowers at the school both indoor and outdoor. These experiences have enabled me to change my approach and attitude depending on the purpose, from firm with rulebreakers to helpful and supporting towards those who want to develop their understand or ability.
Whilst I coached intrepid young rowers, I too participated in rowing events, training to win medals. As such, in 2010 I achieved silver in the Indoor 2km Quadruple race in both the Kent and North Kent Junior Championships and won the National Indoor Junior Boat Race at NJIRC. In 2011 I achieved silver in the Indoor Lightweight Single 2km in both Kent and North Kent Junior Championships, won gold in the Indoor 2km Quadruple in both said championships, broke both the Kent Junior Lightweight and Open records for fastest 1km and 500m splits and came second in the National Indoor Junior Boat Race. This shows my determination to achieve the very best of my ability, this determination allowing me to generally improve through a year.
In terms of Minecraft experience, I have took on the role of a prison guard on a prison server (please pm me if you want details). In this role, I patrolled prisons to ensure that players stuck to ‘prison rules’ (no swords out, no fighting, etc) and if someone was caught breaking said rules, I could stop them by killing them or taking them to jail. Although this wasn’t strictly moderating as such, it proved to be an insight on how to carry out rules on a Minecraft Server which can and will come in handy should I ever become a moderator at Minerealm.
I have also demonstrated my communication skills on Minerealm very recently by talking to a seemingly angry parent, who was angry because his six year old son felt that he was being victimised following nether pvp, where the child repeatedly got killed despite asking not to be killed. I believe I dealt with this situation professionally, and as a result the parent calmed down and I helped the child, along with asking people who were in the nether at the time to cut the young player some slack. In recent months, I have also provided hospitality to some newer players of Minerealm, tutoring them with their day by day Minerealm experience and helping them until they felt that they could do well without my help. Examples would be IceProdigy, 6kshot and psychofreakshow1; however the first two are unfortunately now banned.
Why you deserve this position:
I wouldn't say 'deserving' was the appropriate word, as I know, as do most of you; that I have had the occasional round of immaturity on Minerealm.com, including but not limited to, my rude confrontation with Intelli which resulted in my banning. This has ranged from posting on Ban Appeals with googled images, to my most recent and petty approach to Fritterdonut in particular about countries (which I sincerely apologise for). However I pledge that with my experience in this sort of position, I would not let pettiness and immaturity get the better of me; as this forum is to enrich the Minerealm experience and messing around in the rulebreaking and discomforting sort only wrecks this purpose.
Availability:
Up until October 1st, I am a free agent from 12 to 7pm at the minimum unless of course I have a family outing or another such important meeting, of which I will be more than willing to notify staff if such a situation occurs. As of after then, I have university so I am unsure as to when I could be available and I am more than willing to update you on this as we get closer to that eventuality.
Anything else you wish to add:
I hate to be cheeky here, but there is a time slot when I am online where the server appears to be without a mod as the other mods are sleeping/having lives/monopoly. My availability can easily fill in this window.
Note: You'll realize that this post is similar to my application for Forum Moderator. Consider this an update from my Forum Moderator app. Thank you.
