I don't see a problem with this, yes only people with villagers will be able to trade them but, we are always complaining about not having glowstone on the market, the more glowstone they make, the more the whole community can have.

Therefore the glow stone prices will crash, making it less valuable.

People should just stop panicking over the economy and glowstone markets and wait 1/2 weeks until MineRealm is updated to 1.3 and people actually start trading glowstone.

Speculation just makes stuff like this worse.

Oh noes, glowstone will not be an insanely overpriced status symbol! It is the end of all things! What shall we DO?!? It might even go back down to a mere 1k per stack, like it used to be way back when!

1) GS gets used up by potions.
2) GS mines at less than 100%, unless you use silk touch, which doesn't get you the dust.
3) There's not enough in circulation to go around anyways.

On a side note: Incoming structures with a hideous amount of glowstone lobbed everywhere in them. It has always been a pet peeve of mine...

I personally think its a good thing to push down the price of glowstone and diamonds. Using Emeralds as a trading currency will also avoid the 10% tax.

Although it would be cool, I highly doubt people will start using emeralds as currency. Emeralds don't hold much value, seeing as you can create them.

If they could only be mined there would be a value to them... but since you can simply take a couple stacks of wheat to a villager and pop stacks of emeralds into the game, their value is very low.

Emeralds can't be created. They are also as rare as diamonds in 'Extreme Hills' and 'Extreme Hills Edge' biomes, and they don't exist anywhere else, making them overall more rare than diamonds.

Emerald *ore* can't be created, but emeralds (and thus the emerald blocks crafted from them) can be introduced into the game from villagers. And since villagers accept lots of renewable resources (e.g. paper, books, various meats) in trades, the supply of emeralds is limited only by the time a village owner is willing to put into obtaining them.

So yes. Emeralds can very well be created. The actual emerald ore which you would get with silk touch won't be in MineRealm regardless because there aren't any new chunks to load with the 1.3 release.
