After a short absence and much griefeing the Netherrail has been restored to full operational capacity. I will be closely monitoring it and any further griefing will result in a ban request.
I'd like to expand the system to include all larger player-made towns with a decent population. The rail system is in a limited space and follows a strict block layout so please don't try to add rails or portals yourself. If you're interested in adding your town post on this thread and we can work out the details in-game or via PM. I'd also like to add a seperate rail for new players to quickly travel to public land. If anyone knows the coordinates of a large chunk of public land please post them.
If you've never used the Netherrail here are a few facts. It's a large underground rail system in the Nether built mostly by myself with my own materials (credit for the ingenious switch design goes to Gimmper). It runs along at y=7 one layer above bedrock. The advantages of having a rail in the Nether are signifigant. Travel is 8 times faster and uses 1/8 of the materials of a normal rail system. As an example you can travel from the world corner portals 5000, 5000 to -5000, 5000 in 4 minutes 37 seconds. That's 10,000 blocks and not even a direct route. You can travel from the main station to Roanoke in 2:15 and to Abyssus 1:23.
Getting to the Netherrail is simple. Go to spawn Nether portal and follow the signs to the large stone building. Take the stairs down to bedrock and you're at the main station. The portal to my realm is there and I'll be building a combination minecart dispenser very soon. There's also a public zombie spawner and I'll be adding a public farm.
Some of the portals are one way travel only. Roanoke, Trinity, Abyssus, Tower Town, Castle Brume and Villa Hugel. If any of the town owners want to fix this just PM me.
