So I was watching this SethBling video that listed the known features of the new snapshot 14w02b. One of the features the video talks about is, the ability to make chiseled stone brick and mossy stone brick really easily. This will pretty much ruin their value. Enchanting looks like it's going to overhauled in terms of the levels it takes for things. For instance something that would take 39 levels to repair now, takes like 3 levels in the snapshot. Naming items, and repairing items seems to take 1-3 levels depending on the enchants of the item. Also, you will be able to see one of the enchants that will be on the item when placing something in the enchanting table. . I think this may allow you to see what enchant you get on a book but I haven't checked for myself. If it does, that'll certainly lower the price of any enchanted items. The enchanting will also require lapis(a.k.a blooo) .Considering this is only the first snapshot of the year, the features may change radically. The slime block seems like an interesting addition, I wonder what I could make with that.

It's not just enchanting that's being overhauled - villager trading is getting a lot of updates as well, and based on the snapshot notes on minecraft wiki it looks like trading and enchanting are going to be sort of balanced against one another. The increase in amount of time needed to level up is balanced out by the addition of experience points earned from trading and the decrease in experience costs for repairing enchanted items. Also, the addition of lapis as a villager trade item compensates for the addition of lapis costs to enchant items.

As a final note:

I need to test if you can use it with pistons, if so you could make an 100% safe floor selection and drop system, and you could make some freakishly difficult parkour. I like that no fall damage part though, I'd put it after long falls where I can't put water.

EDIT: I just had a great idea: when you're falling dwon a big hole, you just make sure you have some on you and as you near the bottom slam it into the ground before you! It works great if you place it fast enough!

I like the floor selection idea. I'm planning out such a system for my storage tower, and that would simplify things quite a bit. The only (possible) issue is that, according to the wiki, players bounce after jumping on to the block "at a slightly lower height than their original jump"... and then bounce again... and again... and again... until eventually the bounce height is low enough that you simply stand. If the bounce height is indeed a large proportion of the original jump, it could take an annoyingly long time to stop bouncing after jumping from near the top of a tower. If each bounce is 90% the height of the previous one, it would take dozens of bounces to finally stop after falling from 150m up. On the positive side, reopening the pit below the spawn realms (or, for that matter, Kress' pit of doom) might be fun if a bunch of slime blocks were placed at the bottom.

You could have the doorway be a couple blocks taller so you purposely fall and hit your head, also if you're moving in a direction on contact with the slime it really cuts down bounce height (may or may not be fixed...) if you have a 3 block tall (or even two if you have crazy skill) doorway you can move against that wall, and pop right in.

In regards to mossy stone brick types, they were never a big thing on the market really.. by that I mean they were like endstone in a way, although it was an expensive and valuable block it never got traded around much. With enchants.. Oh God.. WHY

I realized a new use for slime!
If you set a chain of blocks each one block lower and four blocks away from each other, you can do infinite dash jumps! It's fast and really, really fun. :D

you can't do that with regular materials, so you descend more slowly with this than other styles.
