I can only guess why people want the mod app to be released is that any public app allows any form of positive or in some cases negative reviews. Had a applicant had 3 positives and 40 negatives then they may be inclined to send it privately, hence equalling 0 positives and 0 negatives, leaving the staff to decide. In a way it is unfair to the public as they had no way to express their personal opinions. I know that their "opinions" mean nothing when a mod is being chosen. But you would think that we might be forwarned so that we could contribute some input into the decision as they are going to be the ones representing us every day.
Furthermore, in response to Lm108, Intelli and Shamp, the thing you guys need to understand is that everyone is different when staff are not on. This is why having some input from the community should be involved when deciding on staff. It doesn't mean that you have to take it into consideration, as after all you guys are the staff. But, to at least just glance over what people think of someone becoming a mod would be more suitable.
