Since I do not want to start another thread about the subway, nor can I find another proper place for this post it will go here.

I find it hard to believe this problem has never come up before, but what happens when an unsuspecting new player builds above the subway and buys the realm that the subway is in. I think it a little unfair for the player to have to keep maintenance on that part of the track.

Also, what if this player has already bought the realm, finds the subway afterwards, and then decides he doesn't want it going through his realm. I find it reasonable for a player to not want the subway cutting through part of his realm even if it was there first. Would you guys then advert the subway around his realm or just tell him to deal with it?

You guys cannot expect the majority of the subway to remained untouched. It would be like me making a huge sky bridge over every realm from spawn to mine and then expecting no one to tear it down because it may impede on their building areas.

It's underground and there's no maintenace required because if it's on private land noone can grief it. What is it going to do? Interfere with Slime caves? The ones they can now build from levels 1-40? I think they have plenty of space.

It's not hard to seal off a tunnel in private land and not worry about people getting into private areas. I believe it's already been stated that they will have to keep the tunnels and deal with it.

Of course they could always go to the thousands of other realms that don't have subway tunnels if they are going to be crybabies about it.

As surgeon says, if they buy a realm with a tunnel in it, they have to deal with it or move on, they won't however have to maintain it, that is up to myself and Lm108, and anyone that wants to help. The one thing we would like them to do is add either myself or Lm108 to the realm so we can maintain it at will also, when the Subway is fully mapped, hows that coming KingofTurves?, then they won't have an excuse not to know its there

I think the tunnel should be treated as anything else people would find in public land. If they want it removed they have to return the items to the original owner. You can't force people to keep the tunnel in their realm if they really don't want to but they also can't just take the materials.

This issue has already been discussed. If you purchase a realm over a subway you have 3 options.

1. Leave the tunnel in place. This is the option I would choose. With only 15 minutes work you can now have your own subway connection (secure or public).

2. Request the tunnel be rerouted. Believe it or not, the subway has already been rerouted around several realms. I'm sure the build crews would come out and tunnel around you if you made the request. It might take them a few days though.

3. Reroute the tunnel yourself. As long as you maintain the current quality of the tunnel, you will get no complaints if you reroute it around your realm. Just make sure you get the spacing right on the powered rails.

If any case, the only reason I can see to want to remove the subway from your realm is to allow yourself to build an extremely large chamber for whatever reason. If it's a private realm, then you'll never need to worry about griefers coming down the tunnel. And since you've already lost out on any minerals that were in the tunnel area, you don't need to build mines there.

The one thing you CAN'T do is destroy the tunnel without rerouting it. This is considered "destroying another players blocks/structures" and will get you banned for griefing.

I don't expect new players to read through the dictionary of the forums to find one 22 page topic and then proceed to look through all 22 pages for rules about the subway.

I understand that "dont destroy other people's stuff" is one of the primary rules, but I would be majorly confused if I found a subway cutting through the area I was building on. This is why I would like to ask for leniency on players who do dig into it.

I think there are two different issues here. First, the protection (or lack thereof) given to the subway according to the rules, and second, the consequences for breaking any rules related to the subway. I think destruction of the subway should not be allowed, but there's no need to go overboard and ban any player who destroys one block of track or one torch. That could be appropriate for players who dig up huge sections of track (since this is clearly covered under the "no stealing" and "no griefing" rules), but minor disruptions can easily be fixed, and simply giving a warning to most players would prevent them from doing it again. And if they do break stuff again, then of course a ban is always on the table, but there's nothing saying that it would have to be used in all circumstances.
