Here are my opinions, orderd by profit:
1: Strip mining at lvl 12, bringing along either a fortune III or a silk touch pickaxe to maximize loot.
2: Clearing a realm, only because you can make a large profit farm afterwards.
3: XP farming, with a blaze spawner, preferably. However, I think enchanted picks are over-priced.
4: Netherrack farming, once you make a big hole, losely fill it in for more profit.
5: Snow farming (with snow golems).
6: Sand farming, I have never done this.
7: Going to Jack Corp Casino while you are lucky.
Of course, there are many ways that I know of, some of which I didn't say, because I only wanted to mention the obvious ones. If you work, you make credits, the main factor isn't what you do but how hard/long you work.
