well, when you get done strip mining, you'll have all that extra cobblestone, what i'll do is go somewhere in the middle of nowhere and just start placing cobblestone in a line all the way up to the height limit. After doing this for about 3 hours, I had around 7-9k depending on how fast I did it.

Go mining at y:12 with 3 Efficiency I pickaxes, and 1 Fortune III pickaxe for ores;

then sell 75% of the product obtained.

I was waiting for this. This is exactly what I do. Plenty of iron, coal, and obviously diamonds. Nothing like a 2k bonus for finding a nice diamond vein

Mine and lollingtroll's technique is to go into the nether with a few efficiency II picks, he'll own the netherrack (instant break on eff II) and I'll build big cubes with the invent of netherrack he gets, basically filling In the area he dug...

I just mine. Find diamonds. I like mining stone for some reason, and you collect iron and coal and diamonds. Netherrack is soooo boring... And you earn nothing, kept for nether rack itself.

Mining is probably the best, as others have said. Or, sand and dirt with at least diamond shovels. Believe it or not, there is almost a constant demand for dirt. The people buying usually don't feel like making "Buying Dirt" posts all the time.

Eh... sure, digging netherrack and sand is decent credits I guess... but how can you stand doing that for a long time??

Imo, just play the game and you'll get credits. I've gotten like ~180k in ~3 months so far by this method ;P And I don't generally sell my ores...

Although, I went diamond hunting the other night because I was bored and got 4 stacks of diamonds and probably just as much gold.

Go get some shovels and start filling chests with dirt. This will earn 10k in a matter of hours (3½ with stone tools and little walking time). You can then sell that dirt to myself for a further 100/chest.

true, but then again, they can just mine is down theirselfs and make 7-9k =p or more.
