I believe that any obstruction of the road intended to make it unpassable is a form of griefing. However, coincidental damage do to pvp related activities is perfectly reasonable, so long as the responsible party (if he survives) attend to cleaning up the mess. On the other hand, non-obstructive "damage" such as strongholds, side passages, and hunting blinds are perfectly reasonable additions to any part of the nether.

If you believe it's at all difficult to get between any two points in the nether without use of the road, then you aren't qualified for this discussion. The network of bridges, stairways, scaffolding and inteconnecting tunnels makes bypassing any obstacle in the nether trivial. If you are really too ignorant to find a path over a lava pit, perhaps you should mine a stack of netherack and make one. Or can you not find netherack either?

I have taught first day noobs to get from Spawn City to Abyssus and Roanoke in safety. I don't see why you aren't able to do it.

Finally, there is no such thing as an "innocent" traveller in the nether. The nether is full pvp, period. If your're not willing to accept the risks, stay out moron.

I remember when we didn't have pansy roads to walk us from portal to portal, and we DID have to traverse the often times dangerous Nether and pass through enemy territory to get home.

You'd be amazed how easy it is to get around now. Unless I specifically hunt people along the road, I just don't see people in the nether. To make it even more ridiculous, the unused network of hiways above Y=100 makes "spawn road" look like a sad joke.

Dunno what the spawn road looks like, but I do remember utilizing those upper highways for attacks. It's truly a spiderweb of madness where only the Celestians and a few select other groups could make their way around.

Props to those diggers.

Hehe, Findale has expanded that network a bit. We have one set of tunnels thats big enough for ghast spawns with large access tunnels to either side. We were bored the day we made them. :D

I would personally like to thank Cogohst for being a good sport through todays events. He played through the whole war and was level-headed. Crash did a bit of antagonizing as always, but Cog did his best to ignore it.

Nice fighting Ceteri, everyone except that cowardly mystro211 who can't even manage a kill with his pathetic fighting tactics.
