Coords - Multiple realms within 500 blocks of X=-2000 Z=-3000. Majoriy of work below Y=20.
Starting tools - At least 2 diamond pickaxes, 3 iron shovels, 2 water buckets, 1 stack of chests, 27 furnaces, and 1 stack of logs. Enchanting table and access to exp grinder available upon request.
Suplemental tools - Supplied from materials mined or as needed.
Phase One: Excavation
I am in the process of hollowing out the lowest levels below the bulk of Findale. The initial area to be cleared is 250x250 at Y<=16 (25 realms, about 500k blocks). Area is to be flattened at bedrock and have a cobblestone roof. Example realm prepared. Some of my previous constructions will need to be cleared.
You should be prepared to make supplemental tools from any diamonds/iron found while digging. Cobble should be converted to smooth stone as coal supply allows. Redstone ore should be untouched or silk-touched if possible. Special consideration will be needed for any spawners or natural features/structures found, as they may be incorporated into final product.
Feel free to keep/use any excess material found. I ask that all unwanted materials NOT be incinerated. I will most likely have several uses for them later. (I've been known to build non-hollow islands.) I will provide chests in abundance.
Area has not been cleared of all lava hazards. Caution should be used at all times.
Phase Two: Initial Build
After area is cleared, we will begin joint construction of a new "mushroom-cavern" biome. The intent is to create a cavern environment with a semi-realistic appearance. The area is intended to be poorly lit and "unsafe". I'm hoping to create a tourist attraction with a bit of danger.
Smooth stone stalagmites/stalagtites, mycelium, mushroom colonies and large mushrooms will all be major "natural" features. Some small structures will be added. Structure materials will be chosen based on aesthetics.
Lava, water, gravel and other features will be included sparingly. Important landmarks/attractions should be just far enough from other landmarks to be hidden in the "fog".
Pre-existing features such as mob spawners, large caverns, ravines, and abandoned mineshafts may or may not be incorporated. Decisions must be made on an individual basis with regard to both appearance and practicality.
Pathway and structure lighting will be primarily redstone ore. Glowstone lanterns, piston/torch lights, lava and sunlight may provide supplemental light where desired.
Solid construction is near mandatory. Hollow builds are the reason Spawn City is FPS hell. I'm hoping to avoid the same fate.
Phase Three: Expansion
Long-term plan is to extend subterrainean biome underneath all of Findale's 70 contiguous realms.
Very-long-term plan is to invade every last public realm with my subterrainean madness. That may take a while...
