People post that they have the right to stop it at anytime and no one ever says anything then.

As far as I am aware, that is not breaking any rules, also almost everyone does it. Try wording it a bit differently next time, by putting like what I do in all of mine. "End date:xx/xx (may end sooner if bidding dies out)", put something like that to avoid confusion.
