If you're going to end something early, you need to give a 'going once, going twice, sold' series of posts at regular intervals.

I also don't see why you'd want to just quietly end an auction; if people don't know it's ending, they can't jump in and bid, which loses you money.

Yeps. I've never seen a fort. III go for less than 10k, which you could have easily made if you said "going once" etc.
