If you use any textures, you should pixelate the whole image, except the font.
If you scale up textures (e.g. creeper head), use a linear alghorithm to avoid blurry lines (Gimp: Interpolation: None or Linear)

Stop Using all these effects. Glow effects and gloss, burred shadows and gradients? - oh god
Last Point, maybe most important: Colors. Try to avoid full saturated colors like cyan, blue and red. Also reduce the saturation (make colors more grey) when you have light colors.
