Recently Quentijn posted a fairly good idea for auction rules. So here are the new rules:

Item(s) up for auction:
Starting bid:
Minimum increments:
Ending date:
Buyout Price (Optional):

Screen shots are also encouraged, because they provide proof of items, and it's easier to show what you're selling.
If auctions refuse to follow this new procedure they can be shut down at staff discretion.

EDIT: The ending date cannot simply be discretionary; you MUST give a certain length or a specific date and time.

This is an exact quote from 'New Auction Rules' and I don't seem to see anywhere stated that you must follow through with offers. Also this auction was ended a week later.

You can not hide things you say from admins. They are capable of seeing original posts.

Also, it may not be written, but it has been said that you may not back out of a bid, especially as far into the auction as you were. They are final.

The music disc auction was a little bit different. I had 2 sets of discs available, so I thought that it would be an fun twist to have the 1st AND 2nd place bidders win a set.

You can't do that. It just does not work that way. 2 items in 1 auction spot? Secound highest bid gets "a different disk"? If i were to bid secound to last, i would HAVE to buy an item i did not want?

And it is a way for you to efficiently double your income while threating with bans if they don't pay up... And that would probably count as abusing laws if it is taken into account...
I don't even think it qualifies as an "auction" in the first place...

I think this entire thing is a bit dumb.

Hydro misunderstood the auction, and backed out. Yes it was against the rules, but he was not aware, and in my opinion that's very easy to miss. I don't think he should be banned over something like this. It's not like he stole anyone's items.

It's a good rule to be in place, but is it really worth a ban? Hydro could of been nicer about it, but I do see his point. This isn't a big deal.

I think this has all gotten a little out of hand. All of this could have easily been avoided if people actually pay attention to what they're reading, or even simply go so far as to finish reading entire sentences. A prime example:

This led me to believe he has the FULL series. When I went back to review this thread I had bid on, I realized it was then NOT the full series which is what led me to withdraw my offer.

This was not a misunderstanding of his words, everything was understood exactly how it was written. However, simply reading four more words would have clearly indicated what you were bidding on:

Item(s) up for auction: I have the full series of music discs for auction, (with the obvious exception of disc "11"). Included are Cat, Chirp, Mall, Blocks, 13, Mellohi, Strad, Ward, Stal, Far, PLUS I have added 8 Note Blocks and 1 Jukebox.

There really isn't much excuse for that misunderstanding.

However. I certainly will agree that the first and second place bidders are winners is a but unconventional, but I believe Falconis indicated this clearly enough for any person reading the full original post, as I myself was considering bidding on these and had no problem identifying this twist to the auction. However, for those that skimmed the auction, simply to see what was being auctioned, this could have been overlooked. Once again though, simply reading the entire post would have solved this entirely, and thus I am really not sure if Hydro should be held fully accountable or not.

This may be an even bigger blunder of not actually paying attention to what you read. You even misquoted Falconis... never once did he say second place wins "a different disc". The second place winner gets an identical set of discs, note blocks, and a jukebox as the first place does... Please, try and get your facts straight before you post, especially in such an accusatory tone.
