I believe any tool with silk touch is able to pick up any blocks, regardless of the tool type. So, a pickaxe with silk touch should be able to pick up mycelium. (This may have changed with 1.0. It hasn't yet been confirmed.)

Okay, wasn't sure about that cause I haven't used silk touch yet (let alone any enchanted tool). It's difficult for me to gain enough experience levels to enchant. And is it just luck? I don't think there's any clear indicator of what enchantment you're paying for before you pay for it, right?

Yep, it's all luck. Even if you translate the text, it's all gibberish and doesn't have any relation to what enchantment you'll get.
