Maybe it's just me, but I really don't believe any of this. Swords do nether of the enchants you listed. But yet, swords do almost no damage. I think protection us its own class. And full fire pro IV saves you more then pro IV in lava. Protection is a combination of other unknown enchants. Also you your saying if you have full IV unit equals 44 points. So if your helmet breaks you should still be above the 25 but yet when you helmet breaks, you take more damage. So hat alone can explain how some of that might be wrong

It's not that I don't believe you, but explain why sword attacks do less damage, when swords isn't one of the enchants. It listed

I knew my theory about armor protection was true! Thanks for confiming it, N2Z!

Also, with the information just confirmed, wouldn't that mean the protection 3 will provide the same amount of protection and last longer than protection 4 since the armor is absorbing the damage and transferring it to armor damage? That's the only part of my theory that I'n still unsure about.

Yeah, you can now have the enchants Unbreaking, and Thorn on armour. Maybe a full set of Prot IV, Thorn IV, Unbreaking III wouldn't be that bad of an idea.
