I don't know if this counts a separate picture, but here it is with a few minor tweaks. I didn't resize your face super, but I bumped up the resolution a bit. Anyway, here it is:

The face is a tad blurry. Maybe try Rectangle Select and Sharpen?

Tip: Try to use some in-game textures as background, maybe combined with a vignette effect.
If you use any textures, you should pixelate the whole image, except the font.

If you scale up textures (e.g. creeper head), use a linear alghorithm to avoid blurry lines (Gimp: Interpolation: None or Linear)

You could use some bolder, more special fonts for your headings (http://losttype.com/browse/)

Stop Using all these effects. Glow effects and gloss, burred shadows and gradients? - oh god

Last Point, maybe most important: Colors. Try to avoid full saturated colors like cyan, blue and red. Also reduce the saturation (make colors more grey) when you have light colors.
You could use color schemes provided by http://kuler.adobe.com

Losttype is a good example how to make it right. The Fonts, The Colors, The Effects:

What editor do you use? Gimp? paint.net?

I use gimp. Although I do have Adobe Illustrator, I'm still learning to use it well.

Nice! This'll be the second version, if you change it up using the following tips:

-Remove the little whites left around the items
-Make the items look like they are glowing
-If possible, a line of redstone dust as border?

If you need any help, tell me, I'm actually advanced at photoshop, but waaay too lazy to make this :D.
