So, obviously everyone knows that the Nether is a PVP zone.

The question: What rules govern PVP in the nether?

Honestly up till this point I assumed as long as you didn't lava people in the road, pretty much everything was fair game. Lots of people camped portals (including me, I admit), and it was just a free-for-all in the nether.

Now I have been informed people who camp the Nether portals will be banned. Does this only include killing people who are entering the nether, or does it also include people running from the nether in to the portal room?

Opinions on nether pvp rules?

Portal camping a portal inside the nether that you did not place is not permitted.
Additionally, portal camping any portal that links to a primary spawn point portal is not permitted.

Spawn sign rules apply to all aspects of the server:


Camping / killing an innocent victim, as soon as they enter the Nether, causes grief to that player and isn't respectful of that player. Unless of course, they're obviously looking for a fight (ex: have a sword).

I know using the Nether roads as a shortcut comes with it's own risks. Personally I don't mind PVP on the roads, as long as the actual portal room isn't getting camped. I just hate the constant griefing that goes along with them. I don't know how many times I've already had to fix the death traps that people keep setting up to kill people as soon as they exit the portal. Holes straight down into lava traps. And since we're right on the world border people have found it a good time to destroy the portal in the Nether portal room so that a new portal spawns outside the Nether border thus pushing anyone exiting back into the border and right into said lava pits. Good times.

Probably just going to take it away from the public.

Just lately someone TNT'ed and Lava'd the portal area from Abyssus. I fixed most of the damage, but not before a number of people ended up burning to death (me and my diamond armor included x_x).

Also, no one has said if killing people who are entered the portal room after first leaving it or coming from a different portal all together is not allowed. The problem I see with this is cowards pvping then running back into the portal room/trying to teleport away as they are about to die.

How about this: If you are brandishing a sword/bow, pvp is fair game (except when exiting a portal room), otherwise don't attack unless they attacked first.

Intelli, what about stealing in the nether? I always thought that was allowed, yet it can cause greif.
