I have found an abandoned dark slime farm and refurbished it and added torches, but no slimes appear. Does this have something to do with my "chunk?"
Thanks

UPDATE: So far so good. gaudino and I are making the slimefarm under our two realms. We have used 26 TNT. Does anyone sell or trade for TNT or gunpowder?

As far as I know slimes should appear regardless of the light levels or time of day within the bottom 16 layers of the map. Often in large caverns or open mines...

So a big cavern at the bottom of your plots should work...

According to the wiki, there are pseudo-random chunks that will spawn slimes. These comprise roughly 10% of chunks, so a farm of 160 x 16 (or some other dimension containing 10 chunks) should have ONE slime chunk in it, statistically speaking.

Then again, you could be worthlessly hacking away, creating a giant would-be farm that doesn't spawn anything; using those exact parameters you listed.

(I tried, I failed, I gave up...) xD

You could be, sure, but it also builds credits, not to mention character. Really, though, I'd be quite surprised if a 10 chunk x 10 chunk room that's otherwise adequate didn't spawn at least a few slimes. Even a 5 chunk x 5 chunk has pretty good odds.

Should also be noted that slimes cannot spawn on torches, so place them in a good formation, and it should increase your spawns.

Orrrr use glowstone.

No, Probability speaking, there's a 1 in 10 chance of any given chunk. Just because you have 10 chucks each with a 1 in 10 chance doesn't make the probability 100%. Think of it like rolling a 10 sided die 10 times in a row. Each roll always maintains a 1 in 10 chance. It would best be described with a binomial matrix, or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal_matrix

I hear you can find the seed by pressing F3. In game mods aren't allowed however. Keep in mind, all of this effort will be reversed with 1.9, as the new seed should also re-randomize slime propagating chunks.
