this is what I want to see in minerealm 3.0 this is not what anyone else does. this is my opinion. more freedom. i have heard some things about 3.0, and i think the best thing to do is make it more independent for players. so, i will show you what i found about minerealm 3.0 and give my thoughts.
THIS IS NOT ENTIRELY CRITISCM.(unless all the updates are stupid)

•"/realm warp" command will be removed.- really? so they have to walk to get to realm?

•No longer possible to disable visitors within a realm- so if you want privacy and dont want it to be crowded, to bad for you? no freedom there, in fact.

•If you realm is under 100x100(?) anyone can build within the realm. Realms 100x100 or larger automatically prevent non-members from building within the realm.- i feel bad for the people under that, because obviously griefers can fill up all the space with cobblestone or obsidian, and kill people with gravel and sand

•Railroad tracks placed in the wilderness by a member of a 100x100 (or larger) realm will be automatically protected.- this makes sense

•Creeper explosion damage will be disabled everywhere, including the wilderness.-this make the server waaayyyy less fun. creepers are the mascots of minecraft!

•TNT will be disabled everywhere. (Currently causing issues / lag).-it never cause me any issues or lag. but if it really is, than thats understandable

•Numerous bug fixes / performance enhancements.

•To join a realm, you must be invited to the realm. (Required for all realms)-hhmmm, well, i think the whole /realm private thing is good enough. if you want it to be public, than thats your choice.

•New method for expansion. If a side is blocked off, rather than compensating for the space loss on the opposite side, it will reduce the block count required for the next expansion.- i do not understand what this means

•You can't access chests within a realm that you're not a member of.- this is stupid. its way better to get the lock command for chests, so you can lock whatever chests you want. i have used this on previous servers, it works wonders. why should you get that command instead of this? well, think of the generous people giving visitors free items via chests!

•Players can be members of multiple realms.-finally, something i like! maybe you should limit the amount though, like 8. we dont want people to get too stressed from having to manage 30 different realms

•Party of 6 players (max party size) required to create a realm!- thats another freedom taken away. two best friends irl want to create a realm? WELL TO BAD! and than, of course, you might accidentally have a griefer as part of the party(which is bound to happen)

•60 diamonds required to create a realm. Oh yes. =]- wheres the third sentence saying "jk, jk. i'm not actually an evil jerk forcing you to pay everything you have collected." wait. you were serious?

•New realms have a limit of 10 members. This can increase.-hmm, it should increase after every expansion AND period of time, so at like 100x100 they can have like, 20 members

•Default realm size will be increaed. (50x50?)- i was wondering why you start out with so little land. good idea

•Possibly removing the 100x100 limits stated above.-which ones?

•Realms will no longer auto-destruct.- auto destruct?

Upcoming Generic Changes: (List not finished!)

•Removal of ability to sleep in beds. On death, players must return to the main spawn area.- see what i mean? this server wants to steal your freedom!

•"/reply" command for private messaging.- good idea

•"/pvp" command, enables players to enable or disable PVP. Only players with PVP enabled can attack other players / be attacked. There is a 10 second delay to enable/disable PVP for a player, and nearby players are notified.-this is survival, not "I'm to scared to brave the wilderness so im going to turn on wimp mode!"

•Removal of the "wilderness".-WHAT? that is an awesome name though! bad idea

•"/who <player>" shows advanced information about players, such as their block count, join date, etc.-good idea

•New advanced anti-grief monitoring tools for moderators.- i have a feeling many good players will be banned. i dont know why. i just have a feeling.

•Public /sign command.-wait, so you can make a sign appear anywhere, or what? im confused.

•PVP rankings. (listed on minerealm.com)-cool, if you kill tons of people, you ca- oh, right, everybody will turn wimp mode on and nothing will happen.

•Parties! /party create, /party join, /party invite, /party remove, /p <chat>-not bad, besides the whole 6 character party thing


so thats what i think. i will probably greatly dislike 3.0., but thats just me. i have a feeling people will come right away and call me an idiot, so go ahead.

If the nether limit is 1000x1000, then the main world limit must be 8 times that in both directions, or 8000x8000, probably a little more to prevent portaling into a permanent "You have reached the border" state.

I guess it's just a curse that I have to give this rant every year, but for you, I'll keep it short: This isn't America. Your "freedoms" that you claim are losing aren't critical to keeping an exciting server. I don't know why this argument pops up every year, and I'm glad you didn't touch on it much, but MineRealm isn't some tyranny trying to take away the power of the people. The changes we make to existing metagames are intended to be for good reason.

Again, I'm glad you didn't argue it to the death, but it is a sign of selfishness and self-entitlement to expect that you deserve something or some style of doing things on this server. It's essentially getting mad at Intelli - the gentleman that pays for your server and programs everything on it - for doing things the way he wants to do them. None of us are in the right to tell him what to do, unless you want to fish out >$300 a month to pay for the server :o.

I do like discussions like this though, it opens the server to new opinions. I tend to go through these styles of posts the same way the OP does it: grocery list style. So allow me to reply to your statements.

Why, I ask, on a survival, proto-vanilla server do we need /realm warp? That is taking away from the true survival aspect we are trying to go for. Keep it realistic where they have to pay the price to walk places. It also makes exploring incredibly exciting and fulfilling. Just like in 1.0.

This is a good thing that you don't have a choice. Realms shouldn't be some secluded land of 6 or more recluses, it should be a land that invites new players to experience its grandeur. Also, wouldn't this mean that players have "the FREEDOM" to visit whatever realm they like? Watch out for contradicting yourself. Also, just cause visitors are enabled doesn't mean it'll be overcrowded. It's not like there's 50 people desperate to get into every single realm.

You only die with gravel and sand if you are A. A moron or B. AFK. Furthermore, this is designed to keep small realms from having the same privileges as large realms. getting to 100x100 is NOTHING. So do it fast.

•Railroad tracks placed in the wilderness by a member of a 100x100 (or larger) realm will be automatically protected.- this makes sense Indeed. However, I wonder what will happen with redstone torches for booster tracks?

If one side of your realm is adjacent to another realm's borders, instead of compensating for the space lost by not being able to expand in that direction by expanding more in the opposite direction, the overall block count required to expand will be reduced.

•You can't access chests within a realm that you're not a member of.- this is stupid. its way better to get the lock command for chests, so you can lock whatever chests you want. i have used this on previous servers, it works wonders. why should you get that command instead of this? well, think of the generous people giving visitors free items via chests! How is this "stupid"? This is one of the best things we've got coming in 3.0. Protect chests from ALL thieves? That's sodding brilliant. A system that determines who in particular can open the chest is good, but this system is far more convenient on the programmer's end, I believe.

Lol, too stressed? If a player wants to join 30 realms, that's his choice. You were the one talking about freedom and choice, so here's a decision players should be allowed to make. If by some stroke of God-sent luck the player gets stressed by being a part of 30 realms, he can kindly leave one or more of them at his discretion.

WELL TO BAD! and than, of course, you might accidentally have a griefer as part of the party(which is bound to happen). This is a freedom taken away, yes, and I couldn't be happier about it. Ecstatic, actually, that it takes six players to create a realm. The reason is this: 3-man groups do not deserve to have the protection, authority, and legitimacy a realm delivers. Have you seen survival? There is a realm every 50 meters. It's insane. This cuts down the number and makes the that actually have the manpower to create a realm feel more privileged and legitimate. Also, the 6-man requirement forces players creating a realm to actually talk with the community and make some friends, rather than be a recluse albeit you have two real life friends playing with you.

Once again, self-entitlement and selfishness is seen very clearly in your comments. This ties in with what I just said: It cuts down the amount of uncommitted, nothing nobody-has-ever-heard-of realms and adds to the epicness of ones that do have the ability to be created. It gives realms a sort of exclusiveness and swagger that IMO makes them sound amazing. You don't HAVE to play here: if you don't like "the evil jerk", kindly find yourself a new server.

•New realms have a limit of 10 members. This can increase.-hmm, it should increase after every expansion AND period of time, so at like 100x100 they can have like, 20 members. I think it would simply be once they reach a certain size, they can expand. I could be wrong though.

FREEDOM? You're really talking about Freedom on a Minecraft server. This is put in place to stop players from being able to manipulate their spawn point into an additional free "warp". I stated above why they shouldn't have the warps in the first place, Mr. Glenn Beck.

First off, there is a 10-second delay, so if you were under attack, you'd have been dead before the command followed through. If you turn it off from the get-go though, that is your choice. Let the men that want to fight at PvP Castle fight it out, and all of the gentlemen going on trade missions or venturing out into the unknown to show their friends some great things on the server - get to have PvP disabled. It's not a concept I entirely agree with, but I can see some good reasons in it.

Some people like the thrill of being close to death. It also will alert players in a 100 block radius when a player is turning on / off PvP, so yeah.

•Parties! /party create, /party join, /party invite, /party remove, /p <chat>-not bad, besides the whole 6 character party thing. Actually that's pretty good. Parties upward of 15-20 players would just get kind of messy. Plus they need to be max of 6 for the realm system.

U stupid, bro? Really? Someone posts a thread like this every other month :roll: And yeah, I'm calling you an idiot, because guess what? You sure sound like one. Panthers decided to be nice. Consider it an honor. I am not nice. First and foremost, this is Intelli's server. The fact that he pays frickin $300+ a month and codes custom plugins so that you can sit here and whine "because he's taking your freedom" is absolutely disgusting. You want freedom? You're free to GTFO.

Now, you don't seem to like the ideas planned for 3.0. Or rather, the ideas that were planned, then scrapped, which you would know if you actually cared about 3.0, not just having something to bitch about. Now, I would be ok with that if you actually offered some helpful suggestions. It looks like you're just complaining, to me. It also sounds like you want this to be like every other server with /lock, i.e. boring.

In terms of the limitations on realm creation, I'm with panthers. Best frickin idea ever. You complain that two friends can't make a realm, you have to pay all your diamonds, blah blah blah. Know what? Good. If two friends want to cordon off some land, build some half-ass cobble structures that look like God threw up, while getting in the way and expecting to have their chests be impenetrable, great, I'm happy for them. But they can do it on a private server. This here is Minerealm. It's what you call a community, where people come to interact and build with some great people. Not where real-life friends come to hide in a corner. You don't like it? Oh look, we don't particularly care.

For /pvp, I agree. I'm not so fond of the "Can't touch this" approach. But it's Intelli's choice. (Maybe some designated pvp areas? Kind of like a pvp castle-realm hybrid? *hint to Intelli). No extra warps? Boo hoo. You're a man, walk.

So, this is the mean approach to idiots complaining. Thank you for listening ladies and gentlemen. I know it makes you all feel as sick as I do when some self-entitled idiot who I have never seen or heard of before decides he runs the damn server.

i'm not an idiot, i'm just giving my opinion, like i said at the top of my post. if thats how your going to react like that to some one stating their opinion, then maybe your the idiot. and i'm sorry if i offended any one, but this is what I want to see in 3.0. plus, my opinion changes all the time.
