My biggest problem with a public land wipe is that, essentially, it would be a whole new map with about 10% of the old one transplanted onto it. I like our current map. I like jumping down off the hill near my house in the pursuit of a creeper, exploring the abandoned houses of Old Vortex, helping artraf transform a certain giant public build he acquired into a base he can use. I know my land, and I know the builds on it. The same is true for many of you. It would be a terrible shame if it were all destroyed.

You mean over 20%. Yes, privately owned land has expanded to less than 10% for the 1.0 wipe to just over 20% now. That means you'd probably see about 2 times more of those ugly flat square walls and pits.

I actually have a suggestion that I will post. The suggestion will fix many problems with pulic land not wiped and it will make the map look much better after the wipe.

this is what alot of people wondered but because so many of current minerealm players have been around for a long time and are dedicated players only way they could go about this is by making a poll and having 85%+ of veteran players to vote yes to this as over 100 players have 50 realms or more and over 10 have over 100 i think thats bout right but i would also like to think of this as a future possibility

I just want to add that if a /wipeable command is made available for private realms then it could easily be implemented for public realms as well. This would make important areas like the subway easily "saved" as well. I still believe a wipe of some sort on the main map is necessary.

The subway system needs to be re done in my opinion. It's complicated. Tons of stops everywhere and it's not strait forward where Im going. The subway system should go in 4 directions, and be easy to navigate.

If someone gave me the current map, world edit/mcedit, and like a week, I'd try and seamlessly copy every private realm across. That'd be fun.

Personally I favor a wilderness wipe; the staff could try out a number of different seeds until they found one that was appropriate...not to mention that this was the wilderness's stated purpose, and hasn't got anything terribly important in it as a consequence.

A map expansion would be wonderful, but obviously it would be either laggy or expensive, and create a precedent that Intelli might not want to encourage. If people would be willing to donate for an upgrade to support a map extension, it might be possible, but I don't know that enough people favor that suggestion enough to give up their money, and I don't know that Intelli would find such a course of action ideal.

You know, not a few days ago you were winging that there were no ores left to mine, nothing left to do etc.
Here is a solution and you're still winging!

There also aren't enough stops. I'd love to have a standardized sky-rail system so that we can see more of the map as we're traveling. A horse friendly road system would be awesome too.

*whinging

Anyway, any solution has its flaws. I'm just trying to find the one with the fewest of them. I'd honestly rather keep the current map with its few ores than a new one with many, but that's just me.

Anyway, the possibilities for your pleasure:

A. Complete map wipe.
Pros:
*New resources
*Stays up to date
Cons:
*MineRealm's history is destroyed
*All users are forced to start over
*Users leaving because of their work being destroyed
*Intelli's promise broken

B. Public Land Wipe
Pros:
*New resources
*Stays up to date
*Preserves users' work
Cons
*New/poor users lose their stuff
*Disbanded guild/personal bases are lost
*Nonuniform landscape

C. Wilderness Wipe
Pros:
*New resources
*Stays up to date
*Preserves practically everything
Cons:
*Might not include all new biomes/items
*Not a place where most users will go by choice
/*By the way, I think this makes a point about the Wilderness; it works well for introducing new items into the economy, thanks to the few users who go in there and bring stuff out, but doesn't work too well as a way of introducing new biomes for exploration/building purposes.*/

D. Map expansion
Pros:
*New resources
*Stays up to date
*Preserves everything
Cons:
*Lag (temporary)
*Expense
*Less focus on original part of map/decentralization

E. Nothing
Pros:
*Everything is preserved
*No lag
Cons:
*Not up to date
*No new resources
*Users leaving due to MineRealm being outdated

Anyway, those are our choices, essentially. In fact, I think I'll make a thread for this.
