So Catsfuzz was one of the most hated players just because he held his ground against one of the most powerful realms in Minerealm? I'd respect that, not condemn it.
I suppose it depends on his attitude while doing so.
He didn't do that exactly "dignified".
I'm guessing that if he had been "dignified" then he would have been a hero instead of a villain.

It was not that we didn't respect Catsfuzz for standing up to Celestis, it's just that he went ahead and founded the realm where he did after people had told him to go far away to found the realm so our borders wouldn't clash. Then, after all his reasons for staying were gone, he refused to leave and constantly complained to Admins and mods that the realms Celestis had built were griefing by keeping him from expanding. In fairness to Cats, he did not know all the mechanics and how they worked, and wrote a nice apology before leaving the server.

He's also a good guy in real life, but stubborn.

Since there are a few replies to what I've said, I'll just post a little summary of my thoughts, explaining my main point. I wasn't saying I had any problem with a history of minerealm. That's totally cool. I like to see how things like this develop over time. But when I read the history, it seemed like a lot of unnecessary bouts and rivalries, and also seemed like a lot of people took the game really seriously. And I mean in a seriously unhealthy way. I'm just one of those people that kind of cares for the well-being of everybody, and it just concerned me that some people seemed to be dangerously involved in this game. Video games are cool. But not when a gamer starts to lose the ability to differentiate reality from imaginary. That's not good for anyone, and it just concerned me that this seems to be happening with quite a few players, from what I read in this thread.

And I'm not trying to tell people what is fun and what isn't.. That was just my opinion, that it's fun until all these real-life issues get thrown in. But I assume a lot of these political issues were between older gamers.. If that's true, then all these politics can trickle down and affect other players, a lot that are very young, from what I've seen. 5-10 year olds don't usually find fun in all of that kind of stuff.. and since all of these agendas of certain members do end up impacting the experiences of other members. One such example would be super-stores with prices that individual sellers just can't compete with, therefore dominating the market and making it unfair for those that aren't part of the huge "corporations" that have developed in this game. Add to that all of the land disputes, like the situation with catsfuzz being bullied over his land, and it doesn't exactly make it fun for some players. The vast amount of younger players likely don't have the critical thinking skills and tactfulness of the older members that dominate this server. All of these complex issues that are brought into the game create the possibility of it being really unfair, and thus un-fun, for some people.

Really, the whole aspect of corporations and massive realms adds a layer of depth to the game that is missing. I mean, sure, Minecraft is a game about building with blocks. That's fun for a bit, but then it starts to get old after awhile.

On the other hand you can have a world full of intrigue, deception, plots, strategy, brotherhood, and economic powers and also building with blocks. The best part is, if you want to play a block building game you never need to interact with the community at all, and if you want to add the layers of icing to the cake, well, thats your choice.

As to you saying that there is a difference between real and imaginary, well, doesn't the fact that it happened make it real? I'm pretty sure that the lines of code in my player avatar's inventory are real lines of code in my player inventory, and my anger at the guy who killed my player and took my lines of code is real as well. There is a limit to this, of course, but most of us never even get close to it.

And asking the older players to dumb ourselves down just so the younger players can understand us is fair...how? There's a reason ten year-olds aren't normally invited to adult conversations. They don't have to like or be a part of what we're doing, and we're not asking them to.

I'm not sure a lot of people think of him really as a "villain," but he's not really a "hero," either.

Anti-hero to borderline villain?

Kinda like a "come at me bro" version of The Punisher or Spawn?
