People would *not* lose the builds they've spent hours on. All the items we've worked on for ages would *not* be gone

People don't just build things for the sake of building them. Creation goes farther and deeper than that, we do this for plenty of reasons. To inspire other people, to earn gratitude from those who see our work, and so on.

That
is why I don't build on single player. If you take away the gifts of inspiration and fun that our builds bring, you may as well do away with them all together.
Edit: also, what about expansion of our builds that involve other players? I mean, have you considered community projects and whatnot?

Tired of playing on the same map for almost 2 years now, its becoming outdated. No new biomes, jungle trees, villagers, the map looks bad because of the first partial wipe, etc.

Not only this but the fact for a long time, we were told that the map would never wipe, then out of nowhere, there was a change of plans(5.0 wipe), and now we're back to never wiping again...

I for one was waiting for the 5.0 wipe to continue playing as there's really no point in playing on a server that'll be dead once the better/newer one goes up. I'm still going to wait though, in case there were a change of plans next month...again.

If the goal is to generate new resources, I could see why wiping the Nether would be desirable (though I personally disagree with that goal). But what's the point of resetting the End?

Prepare yourselves for opinions:

A lot of issues and viewpoints have arisen in the debate over whether to get a new map:
-New players, particularly that they find it difficult to find public land and throw a fit.
-Time spent on current projects and/or wealth accumulation.
-The relevance of the new patch release items.
-Being able to start fresh and/or having a fresh world to explore and mine.
-Potential issues with a new credit/realm system.

I am personally in favor of a new map for multiple reasons, however, certain changes can be made to the current map to create similar results that I would also find a good middle ground. (These are various seperate suggestions, not all of which could be implemented at once.)

1. Expand the map: Expanding the map to 6000x6000 or 7500x7500 would generate fresh land to explore and build upon. New biomes and features would also be apart of this new land.

2. Mandatory Spawn Cities: I proposed this idea to some extent already. Basically, make existing cities spawn points (Potentially, your /spawn would be the one nearest to your /home) and have new players cycle between them. So each new person that spawns would spawn at a different city, preferably NOT the original spawn at all. I don't even know if that's possible but it would spread the population density around and increase use of public transportation methods.

3. Memories Live Forever: Lame, I know. But the experience you shared with others and the builds you made, no matter how epic or grand, are finite. If making them on Minerealm was a waste of time due to the new map, then you shouldn't be building at all. There will come a day when you are no longer playing on Minecraft and you will look back and the hours, days, weeks, or months you spent on projects with... regret? Or pride at an accomplishment. One way or another, your projects will have produced no tangible results. That is just the fact of the matter.

4. New Experiences: I love this server. The builds are amazing, the community is awesome, the system is interesting, and the creations are secure. That being said, there are so many more interesting ideas that could be implemented on a new server. I salivate at the thought of having that fresh-faced experience of enthusiasm all over again.

5. Intelli: In the end, it's Intelli's server(s). As noted before, it's not fair to expect him to answer to our every whim and fancy. Nor is it fair to expect him to bear the majority of the load, which he often does. He does the coding. He pays money. He has probably put in more time than any of us. We can throw our opinions out there, but we have no right to get upset with what is not ours.

This may have been a bit convoluted but I hope that people are not so set in their ways that they can't generate compromise or understanding to what is a very sensitive issue for all of us. Good day, Minefriends.

I am pretty darn sure about this. If the map isn't expanded significantly, or no new map at all,

sometime in the future most every single player will want a new map. And at some point, the entire map will be built on.

Other players and I are simply saying the new map would work nicely with the 1.3 update, that is all.

I picked No because although I really do want to see a map that is fully updated, I don't want to lose my current realms and builds. I was cool with the new map being on a separate server so I could stay on Classic to keep my old builds, but resetting the current map in favor of an update would be heart breaking x.x.

SO In favor of original plan to make a second server. Not in favor or wiping this one for updates.

Map has been out more than a year and there's still over 80% of land that is public. Just saying it ain't gonna happen anytime soon.
