I say no to full map wipe. While some of you may think its unfair, other people have put in a lot more work.

If we get a map wipe, I'm hoping that realms are retained but everything in them is not.

Time and effort are irreplacable.

Fully agreed. I appreciate one's gumption to be fine with losing all their work, but I don't want that. Me and my realm buddy have spent way too many hours on this server. Enjoyable and fun hours, and we are excited to keep working on and improving what we've done.

I have no desire to re-invest all that time and effort.

I have no desire to watch the clock so that I have to bum rush the nether to get glowstone.

I don't want to feel obligated to see how quick I can buy the newly opened spawn realm.

I don't want to start all over.

Also, I think the only realms I've seen in the middle of an ocean are single realms. I reckon Intelli was smart enough to sacrifice a single solitary realm in the ocean rather than a clump or group of realms that had actually put effort. Did he not go through tons of seeds to find the best most accommodating one for the server?

Why "punish" most for the sake of a few?

I agree. I've spent months getting a spawn realm, and collecting things for a Mega build. Good thing Intelli said there wouldn't be another full wipe. It seems he's made his desicion on page 2.

From Here.
Intelli wrote:Hey everyone,

UPDATE 12/15/2011:
The MineRealm survival map is now deemed permanent, and will not ever be wiped in the future.

Thanks!
I'm personally fine either way, just for the record.

Point well taken. Does this constitute an official decision on the matter, or just bringing up one of several possibilities?
Vesten wrote:Why do we need a vote, so the same argument from 1.0 dropping can start up again?
Agreed. I personally dislike the idea of the full map wipe; I'm just going to leave it at that, as I'd rather not get into the same old argument again. Aside from the issue of whether I like the idea is the question of whether it's likely to happen--see the Intelli statement that's been quoted in this thread about how "The MineRealm survival map is now deemed permanent, and will not ever be wiped in the future." I mean, sure, the circumstances change with each update, but that seems like a pretty definite statement.

Could you explain what you mean by that? If I understand correctly, you'd like private realm ownership to be transferred to any map wipe that occurred, but those realms are reset just like the public ones? I don't see the point of that... it might be helpful for keeping one of the relatively few realms whose location is inherently valuable (near spawn, or major cities), but in the majority of cases it would result in gaining private realm ownership in a 50x50 expanse of a biome that you don't even like (e.g. ocean).

NFT is in the middle of an ocean but, I prefer it like that though, plus our subway is nice and took alot of work, it's also open to 8 tracks right now. :x
