This effect is multiplied if there is more than one player in the nether who is also advertising something like, '100Kcr for the player that kills me'.

I have no problem with the concept of throwing down the gauntlet, and offering a reward, however it is the constant attempts to advertise this by players that I find annoying. This happened for around an hour today with two players, who will remain nameless, and made it almost impossible to read anything worthy of credit in chat at that time, as people either gave up on trying to read it and /chat'd, or just ignored it, leading to chat becoming full of the advertising, and 'What armor are you wearing' posts for the ~hour time period.
Very good point. I really wish you would of let me know this, I was under the impression that everyone was cool with it. I'l do my best to keep the spam down now. Just next time, let us know via PM.

Anyhow, I totally understand how this gets annoying. We just want to let people know what we are doing.

I think we are going to keep it to only /ad messages now, and sparingly advertise it in chat.

What normally happens is a PvPer will log on and we want to let them know what we are up to.

Again, sorry if you were annoyed by the spam!

It's fine, and I would have mentioned it if it seemed like you guys weren't getting a response, and if it was just spam. It was no huge problem anyway, just felt like it should be addressed if we are going to consider putting rules into place for this kind of thing.

Thanks a lot for your consideration!

I think this is completely fair. If you say "in nether, get past me for 10k", people should assume you mean pvp. If they know it is pvp, they know what they are walking into, so it is their fault if they die.
Ex:

Player 1, the experienced pvper:
"Diamonds in the nether, get past me for them!"
Player 2 suckish pvper:
"I'll go into the nether and pvp you!"
*dies*
"I died! I'm gonna ban you!"

Well, if you look at what Player 1 said, he clearly said "get past me for them". The dude should have known he might die. That is my opinion, it should not be a rule.

Any time we advertise any kind of free stuff in the nether we always say:

WARNING: PVP Is FULLY ENABLED in the nether!

Luring --> That the lured is being harmed unexpectedly by the lurer by false intentions.

It's really just an offer for a PvP challenge, as long as:

1. The challenged person know it's PvP.
(maybe also how big the opposing team is.)
2. The reward will be given, to the challenged if he/she wins.

That's just my opinion.

Luring / Challenge, Know the difference.

Yep. We were totally ready to hand out 50k last night. It just makes everything for more fun and intense.

Luring:
P1: hey bro. Come in the nether with me and I will give you diamonds.
P2: Alright.
P2 killed by P1.
P2: Blarg. You a**. Gimme my diamonds. You suck. You tricked me. Herp f-bomb derp.

Not Luring:
P1: I am in the nether with diamonds. Kill me to get them.
P2: I will kill you.
P2 killed by P1.
P2: Wow your good. I don't think I can beat you but I will try again.

See the difference there. Luring is tricking them into coming into the nether and killing them. It is not luring to say fight me in the nether and if you kill me you can have my diamonds and stuff that I have with me.

Just my .02.

Generally I fine with this. So long as the PVP'ers advertise that fact that it is a PVP challenge then it doesn't count as luring.
Whether its in the nether or over land so long as a PVP'er clear states the terms and conditions of the challenge then I don't see it as much of a problem.
Minrealm does quite well at protecting buildiers and creators with the realm protection system, but it also provides for PVP'ers with PVP being fully enabled in the Nether.
I can tolerate the occassional adverts for PVP challenges, soon long as they are clearly stated.
Minerealm is a server where fun should be encouraged and part of that is the occassional PVP, whether its a challenge, a tourney or a fully fledged skirmish/battle.

Admittedly I prefer to fight the old fashioned way with fists in the arenas, but I see no reason why PVP'ers shouldn't be allowed to have a bit of fun and if it keeps nether banditry activity down, then I'm all for it.
