If it were a random sample, the poll might be meaningful. But when people voluntarily seek out and vote in the poll, it's biased in favor of those who are enthusiastic (one way or another) about the proposal. That, of course, being in addition to cere's other points--MR is not a democracy, even though our dictator is a generally benevolent one.
