Well, just glad I am not alone...it's frustrating and luckily it's only happened a few times.

I've had them explode right next to me (about 1 block) and do almost no damage, then explode from 5 blocks and kill me, its very annoying.

I find creepers explode far more often then in single player, I find I have to back up far more if I want to go in for another hit later.

Happens to me too. Really annoying; although I found the closer I am (more or less) the more damage it does. But yeah, it's normally a little random.

Also, not sure whether this is normal or not, but are they meant to just disappear without causing an explosion?

I think they're exploding, the visualization or sound just isn't showing up. This may be from TNT being disabled. Or could just be lag.

Yep, just a pop...and whatever random damage they feel like dealing out, lol.
