Most likely because getting the seed for the new map would allow you to create your own version on single player. After doing that, you would be at an unfair advantage because you would know in advance where all the major new landmarks are, and more importantly, you could use single-player hacks to find the locations of valuable items.

What would be nice (from my point of view ) is if Intelli would put up a new map for the survival server. The one already there would be the "semi" current map, the new map would be the 1.9 survival map after wipe.

This would allow us to see what new features are going to be where our realms are which would let us to do a little prep work on our realms for the transition (or sell some of them back).

I for one would not like it if my realms ended up in the middle of say a tall mountian range. I would either have to tear down my sturctures and rebuild all my realms or sell my realm and get a new terrain one. If lots of people do this we will have lots of ugly realm sized spots of mix-matched terrains. If I new in addvance that this was the case I could sell all but one of my realms now, transfer all my valuables into that one realm, and after the wipe buy my realms back with the new terrain.

I dont think putting the "new" map on the server would give anyone an "advantage" over some one else. But this way we could "preview" the map with out giving us the map seed.

I dont know if anyone else will like the idea and it is ok with me if it is not done, but just thought I would throw my $0.02 in. Take it or leave it.

But when it's actually released we can just press F3 and get the seed anyway. What's the harm in letting everyone know early?

Um, my realm owner was banned, and it will be disbanded in 9 days, will that time be renewed? Or will it still be public in 9 days? Also, what day is this happening?

If the player has even attempted to login during the past 30 days, it will not be disbanded. (Even if they haven't successfully logged on, due to being banned)
