New changes:

1. Parties! /party create, /party join, /party invite, /party remove, /p <chat>
2. Party of 6 players (max party size) required to create a realm!
3. 60 diamonds required to create a realm. Oh yes. =]
4. New realms have a limit of 10 members. This can increase.

And more:

1. Default realm size will be increaed. (50x50?)
2. Possibly removing the 100x100 limits stated above.

Interesting, interesting. I enjoy the party idea, but I don't think they should have a max amount of players. As far as diamond goes, make it a stack. We are in Minecraft after all...

I don't see the need to 'discourage' small or solo realms unless the new map is going to be WAY smaller. There will presumably be plenty of space for people to go off and do their own thing. As for non-realm communities? The few that already exist on the current survival map are griefed to hell. Block protection is necessary for anything to last more than a day, especially on a public server that's specifically targeted by griefers like this. Even for 'elitists' who can count on being able to start up their realms under the proposed system immediately, remember, small communities being constantly pulverized means you have to listen to twice as much rage and whining in chat. And you don't want that, do you?

If people are 'discouraged' from starting new communities, the overall server community stagnates. If power never shifts and nothing new happens, the server gets dull and monotonous. New players will be unlikely to stick around and old players will leave. One of the things I enjoyed about this server is that any nooblet can make a name for themselves out of hard work, skill, and luck. If they can't make a realm to protect that, there's really no hope for anybody's independence.

And Light, I know you're going to scream at me for posting this. Don't be so predictable.

Yes you should discourage people playing by themselves when it comes to building realms. If you want your own ungriefable plot of land then build on single player and don't waste the server's processing power.

As Lightbulbs just said.

(For those that ignore his posts)

And some more key points.

1. Why not join someone elses realm?
2. Griefing will not be tolerated. With or without realms.
3. There will be new anti-griefing tools, per player rollback capabilities, etc.

Parties sound like a great idea, but I have a few questions:
  1. Why have a max number of people?
  2. Is this going to replace realm chat?
  3. Will these be temporary and expire?
  4. Does this mean you can't be in multiple parties?
  5. Is the person who created the party the automatic leader? What are the rights of non-leaders?
  6. What does /party remove do? Can the leader use it to remove people? Is it used to remove yourself?
  7. If /party remove doesn't remove yourself, can we have a /party leave?

Are you freakin kidding me 60 diamonds. All the good realm areas will be destroyed by diamond farmers before anyone can make a decent realm and only 10 players what if i wanted a realm where anybody could join hmmm.

I think I'm missing something...

I thought
4. New realms have a limit of 10 members. This can increase.
means that the realm member limit will expand with the size of your realm.

Diamonds are deep under. The surface will look fine.
