Indeed, realms are one of the biggest reasons people play on this server, and really what makes it unique (And don't give me that 'the wonderful community makes it unique' stuff, that's basically the same as 'So all our stuff is stolen, our houses burned down, everyone else is dead, the food and water are lethally radioactive, and earth is about to plummet into the sun, but at least we have friendship!')

I'm worried about PvP. As much as I love LBG (Current champ in both leagues ;D), PvP added a whole new dimension to the server experience. If you'd consider something along the lines of this, it would solve quiet a few things people are worried about.

Thoughts about Realms

I will start by saying that I do not believe realms should remain on Survival. My reasoning is this: it makes survival to Arcade-esqe. What I will be most happy to see disappear is the realm system because it brings us back into the adventure-style days of 3rd Gen, where players would walk to far away lands and explore. It makes the game seem alot more open.

Players will no longer be tied to a single realm and can live in multiple cities, but have to venture there like I believe they should.

Realms clutter up the map and make cities seem less unique. I am far more excited to see a city called Kurachi or Stone Lake city and not be greeted with any warning signs, but deal with the law established there instead.

More depressing is that realms make every single city a square. Terranobyl has square walls. Purelogic had square walls. Kurachi, on the other hand, had fancy walls that made the city truly look unique. We built those walls as we expanded, and it was just a more fluid, exciting experience altogether.

I'm having a hard time formulating good thoughts on this topic, but if I come up with more reasoning I will say so. Let me say this: Without realms, the environment of the server becomes far more dynamic, allows for players to quit being hermits in their realms, and many other important perks.

Some other Ideas, if Possible or Not
-Perhaps have some additional chat channels, joinable by anyone, but only one channel at a time. Even while in these channels, the basic all-chat can still be read/typed in / muted.
-Protected Rails in designated locations: For them subways for legendary cities >>
-A much bigger map. This compliments the no-realms thing in that it adds to the adventure and dynamic of it.
-Bigger biomes (if that's even possible). It's a shame to see a snow biome directly next to a desert biome, and also desert, forest, etc. biomes that last for only 30 blocks. If the size of biomes could be greatly increased, it would allow for more scenic cities. I'm looking at you, snow biomes :)
--Don't allow building within 150-200 blocks of spawn. I would like for Mods and Admins (or just admins) to have the power to edit everything inside this so we can work on a great looking park or something. Specially skilled builders may also lend a hand.
---PvP Disabled everywhere except for specially designated places, such as arenas. I was also thinking of a free city with pvp enabled in its boundaries (who on earth would wan to own that?) to allow for bandits and other nonsense.
---Lava buckets still enabled everywhere, so just like the good old days for pvp.
---The only anti-grief system is whatever intelli designs. No realm private or anything.
---Only two warps: /home and /spawn
---Make leaf blocks drop from trees

What of TNT?

Still strongly against lack of protected realms. I like being able to build beautiful, expensive buildings without fear of waking up to find nothing.

I agree with a lot of what Panthers has said, but particularly this part. During the first creative map, I was pretty dang good at navigating to distant points using landmarks and the highway system. During the days of Frogtown, I explored constantly and spent a lot of time patrolling the road to the city. I feel like I had more of role as a player. With the current plugins, I kind of feel shackled to my realm. I feel as if I should be there constantly building and expanding. Don't get me wrong though. I like the realm system and there are many positive aspects of it. It was an interesting experiment, but I honestly think I enjoyed the server more without the plugin. I'm actually pretty excited about a return to something more akin with the older days.

If you want to lock your stuff up in a safe little box, play on SSP, where only the people you give the map to can see, or maybe make a private server where only your friends have the IP address. Why build something big and awesome when only the people who built it can see? Satisfaction is one thing, but I love it when people are awed by things I make.

EDIT: I have the same sentiments as saves, thanks for saving me the three minutes to type that out ;D

The thing is, when someone is awed so much by it they tear it down for parts, you wont be so happy.

EDIT: Perhaps at LEAST add a chest lock to it finally in place of the realm system?

An additional note (edit) that for some reason I've decided to post separate from my wall of text. ANYWAY

Many will complain that they want everything of theirs protected and guarded from them. This is "Survival", isn't it? Part of the challenge, i know this is a very 3rd-gen philosophy, is that you have to be somewhat intelligent in hiding your stuff. It teaches good thinking for players to constantly be on the alert, that's how animals in the wild stay alive.

Take a look at cities like Kurachi and Stone Lake City. Part of the amazingness of them is that they are so big and so heard of that even through repeated griefing, it bounces back. It is a testament to the people who built it and it demonstrates that the builder cares enough about their creation to build it over and over again if they have to.
