I don't understand why everyone is hung up on the PvP issue and whether Snit placed himself into a position to be hurt and/or die.

Lava is disabled at spawn. Therefore it is against the rules to place lava at spawn. Rule broken. If you discover an exploit, you tell the admins and mods and keep it quiet. You don't go demonstrating said exploit to a crowd of people and put yourself in a position that could easily earn you a ban.

Let's look at the rules regarding this.

Indirect PvP (1.5): It is quite possible to cause the death of a player without actually attacking them. Pushing players so that they end up in harms way at spawn (into a lava pit, manhole to bedrock, hungry spider, etc), it is a rule infraction. Should the event occur within spawn, it is a rule infraction, as PvP is not enabled in spawn, and Indirect PvP is still PvP. Items must be returned to the slain player. Obviously, proof is required for any action to occur.

So, as you can see, the rule states that it requires a player to be killed for it to be a rule infraction. It also states that if you do kill a person, the items must be returned.
From the video you can clearly see that you had no items and nobody was killed. Ergo no rules were broken.

The way I read that (verbatim) is you only have to push a player into harms way to be in violation.

While you didn't push him into lava, it appears in the video, that you follow him around and right click with the lava bucket setting him ablaze. In my opinion that is not indirect contact at all, and I would hope the mods consider that attacking.
