Harassment (8.1): Harassment can be identified as performing an action with the intention of causing harm to another player, or the repeated verbal assault of another player, be it in game or on the forums. This is different from trolling in that it is personal and often malicious. Harassment is, as expected, a bannable offense.
Trolling (8.2): Trolling can be identified as speaking in a way that attempts to lure out a response, usually of hostility or disgust. Trolling can be performed simply by calling other players dumb, placing signs that laugh at players, etc. Alternatively, trolling can imply joking in a way that attempts to lure out a response of surprise, such as when one player shouts "OMG, SANDBEAST!" Sand Beasts are not active on the server, and so this would be trolling.

Trolling is usually not bannable, as it takes a less serious tone, or one that isn't personal. Even if it is directed at one player, trolling is mostly composed of harmless statements that are attempting to agitate the player.

Now, I might not be on the best of terms with Kress91 as of right now, but when ingame, he never makes personal, harassing remarks.. That being said.. Has Kress91 ever threatened to kill anyone, or find them in real life? Of course not, because that is Harassment and is an actual criminal offence... Does he troll? Of course, who doesn't? Yes Kress can troll a LITTLE too much for the community, but that is what makes him who he is..
Kress keeps the chat... as I would call it, Interesting... Causing innocent conflicts in chat without the use of vulgar language, and it is entertaining for some, and others who wish not to see it either complain or /chat. Honestly, in my opinion, Ingame has been rather boring without him.
Of course, his fate is, i think, Entirely up to Overlord Intelli at this point... But seeing as he was offline at the time of the banning, and his behavior has improved since I got to know him.. I would think maybe one more chance would suffice.. Now, that being said.. Kress Has offered to turn over a new leaf, and if he were serious about that offer, I would advice him to follow his word if he were to be unbanned, thinking that the other people in Terra Nova could remind him in times of his... mouthyness.

I agree with you completely, I haven't either been on the best of terms with Kress since the bank's failure. But he is in mine and many others opinion a valid part of the community. And as she said, everyone trolls, all the time. And it can be easily ignored or just use /chat. So in my opinion, It seems like this time Kress has not actually done anything wrong, and in the instance, most defiantly deserves to be unbanned.

In my opinion, Kress shouldn't have been banned in the first place--I don't think his trolling constitutes bannable harassment or blatant disrespect. But apparently a mod or admin decided otherwise, so that's water under the bridge by now.

As for the present matter of whether or not he should be unbanned, I think he makes a good case for himself. His offer to work with his allies in Terra Nova to "take back my worse deeds and help the new people" would mean going from being a habitual troll to being nicer to other players than is actually required. And from the point he makes about being taught a lesson from his prior ban for other reasons, it seems reasonable to presume that his current situation would sincerely change his behavior in the way he promises.

I agree, but this ban is about this time, it has nothing to do with the past, and this is about whether or not he should be unbanned now, not then. The ban now is something he should not have been banned for, before, maybe... now, no.

Taking Kress' record into account, along with what others have said, I propose that should he be unbanned, he be put on a probation of sorts. Any legit issues/complaints/rule breaking for a set duration (set by the powers that be) and he gets permabanned.

Maybe they could have limited chat like a list that says a few often used phrases. This means people could be silenced not banned. Spamming those pre-approved words would result in a complete mute. People wouldn't always have to get banned.

I think you should post this idea into the suggestions area... it sounds nice..

If Kress were THE cancer of the server, im pretty sure he would have never been unbanned in the firstplace.. Maybe if people didnt assume that he was nothing but a troll and then treating him as such, you guys would probably see that kress is a pretty nice guy with a low tolerance of ignorance, and takes care of it his own, somewhat, unethical way.
