Don't touch realms. For all you know the owner gets on during hours that you are asleep. Just wait till the realm gets destroyed if you think it is abandoned.

Only a week? That's a short amount of time. I think it should be 2, but that's a little off-topic

It is a week because all you need to do is start up minecraft and log into the server for 2 seconds. If you don't have 5 seconds to spare during a week to log in, then I don't think you have enough time to be playing minecraft on a regular basis.
