If a player is waiting on the edge of spawn for the player just to step out or go AFK for a few seconds and kills him, that should be counted as spawn camping.
I do understand however the point that players should not carry valuables near spawn anyway BUT I do not think it is right for a player that might be new to the server, who collects a bit of wood and makes some basic tools for himself/herself to be killed by a hidden player waiting just outside spawn. That does not give us a good reputation as a server.
It only takes 1 death to discourage a player from re-joining.
