Mitchie, I'm glad you mentioned ban appeals.

Another thing I'm disappointed over is almost every common player here has the largest amount of their posts in the bans forum. I'm one of them. Unfortunately we're still feeling what I call the "Lightbulb's Effect," where it's "cool" to be snarky and rip appeals rather than help. It started pretty strongly with Light and was passed on to a lot of us vets, who continue today.

It's really unnecessary, and let's be honest. Does it really look good for so many players to have the majority of their posts in a forum meant for appeals and requests for bans? I'd say it makes us look pretty negative minded.

The administrators are already more than capable of handling the forum load. Especially since they can unban and ban people, the forum moderator position seems to have little significance now.

The administrators are already more than capable of handling the forum load. Especially since they can unban and ban people, the forum moderator position seems to have little significance now.

Valid theory. I'm simply placing this up here so should the admins workload become larger when 1.0 launches, they have some choices for a backup line of forum guardians.

It's come up in a few other applications. Apparently a way of being humble and not sounding like they feel entitled to being moderators.

Meh, neither good nor bad I guess. I was just pointing out a few specific examples of the trend that wxclm brought up. As for the application itself, I think Kress would do well as a forum mod. He's certainly capable of handling the riff-raff; if he can be kind and helpful to the non-riff-raff new players he would be an asset to the community.

In general, I think having a few more forum mods and a few more game mods would be helpful in the coming weeks, since our server tends to get a ton of new players after each major update to Minecraft. More mods = reduced workload for each mod, plus a higher chance that at least one mod will be online at any given time. Although I agree that the current staff is handling things well, having even more mods would also be helpful.
