Pistons are bad because you can't launch people who are stupid enough to pull a "do not pull" lever while standing on the piston.

Trying to make a adventure map using pistions, they have a lot of potential if you know how to use them/redstone.

Very true, I've been doing some things with pistons that involve 2 people to figure it out.
