The new humble bundle deal is up. This one includes three games: x3: Terran Conflict, Universe Sandbox, and Kinetic Void.
I've played the x3 games...some (Steam claims 400 hours). They are sandbox space sim games that are pretty good, but can be difficult to get into. There are 3 games in the X3 set (think of it as the third game in a series, that just happens to have 3 parts, which are all standalone): X3: Reunion, X3:Terran Conflict, and X3 Albion Prelude. Pretty much all of my playtime has been in X3AP, which is an expansion to X3 TC. It has some storyline (sort of), but I mostly treat it as a sandbox. Fly around, dogfight enemy ships, trade goods, buy more ships, buy space stations, buy carriers loaded with fighter, choose someone you dislike, and go in and start solar system wide battles with them. There are also lots of mods that can change it around. If you are interested in playing this game (And it most definitely is not for everyone), I would say pick up the Humble bundle, then spend another $10 on steam to get X3AP. Or, wait for the Steam Summer Sale, when these games tend to go on sale, and buy something like the X Superbox, which gives every single X game.
Universe Sandbox... is arguably a game. I think. It basically lets you create solar systems than play with the physics of it. Not something I am hugely interested in.
Kinetic Void is a early access space sim/sandbox game. I played very briefly almost a year ago, and it was far too early in development for me to know if it is worth anything. I haven't gotten around to trying it out again. I do plan on trying to play it at the very least once it gets fully released. I may have originally bought it in a steam sale because decent space sim games are incredibly rare these days (give Star Citizen now...).
Flattened realms are an abomination
