They are part of the new 1.6 update. Before they were just part of a plugin, but now they are part of the game i believe. You can find baby skeletons, pigman, and zombies now.

Do they cause more damage on vanilla? I've played maps that those little guys deal about 6 hearts.

I believe those servers are like adventurous or hardcore set maps where almost everything can kill a person in one hit. However, baby mobs like those zombies can do a slight more amount of damage than the regular ones i believe.

Nope, baby zombies have been around for some time now, but as of 1.6.2, they can be found around your world now.

There are no baby skeletons. But babies can pick up armor and stuff, the same as zombies, fix your zombie grinders for baby zombies!!!
