Minerealm has had many great players over the years some of which I never had the opportunity to meet but have heard much about, some which are still here with us today.

We have lost many great players and haven't had many suitable replacements, there has been the odd player here and there that has stuck around for a while. I am nearing my 2 years on this server and most of the people I see getting "veteran" achievements these days I have never even heard of. It's because most of them don't talk in chat, they play as if its single player.

I have noticed that the majority of the new players join and get banned within an hour, the ones that don't get banned within the hour aren't the most talkative of people. Also a lot of the chat when there is some is utter nonsense. The community is slowly dying which is a very sad thing to see we need to come up with a solution.

Is it because the people playing are getting younger and younger so are more immature?

We need more exciting, more entertaining, more talkative people on the server, like the players that used to be here.

Also PVP is almost completely dead which leaves me wondering is there any point in guilds anymore other than just another channel to talk to specific friends, so I ask all guilds out there to try become more active in PVP.

I make this topic as I do not want to see a great server that I enjoy playing on and have met some very nice people on withering away.

More active in PvP->more people losing good stuff to Arcane->anger->rage->disencouraged to play->flame=me and dlgn face palming

Actually, if all the changes like Guild 2.0 that were suggested by Intelli and accepted by the community, and all the player-suggested suggestions were accepted like changes to the realm system (and quartz :D) the server itself would be as good if not better as the old days imo. About the players...maybe if Intelli didn't constantly advertise we would have less new players and more known vets and 2-year vets.

EDIT: I'm sure that stopping the advertising would be beneficial to Intelli's pocket too xD

The majority of new players have always been banned. Its been like that since I first joined over two years ago. You just notice that they are new players more because the "+" and the "Joined the server for the first time" makes them stand out.

For the talkative thing, there are two factors at play. One, is that a lot of longer term players are not entirely friendly to new players, which will put them off. The other thing is that a lot of people will not talk very much initially. After a week or two of playing, they tend to become more vocal and active. I know I was very quiet for a while after starting.

That is a drawback of the vet system as it is currently. You join, look around, decide you don't like the server, then leave. 2 years later, while looking for a new server, you see one you don't remember going to, join it, and automatically receive vet status.

Our player count has always fluctuated, but I don't think the current average player counts are really out of the normal. We have had peaks with more players, but where we are now isn't too unusual.

Also PVP is almost completely dead

PVP, for a very long time, was pretty much nonexistant. Additionally, one of the major factors that has killed the current wave of PVP, in my opinion, is how its done. There are players who just camp the nether killing anyone who enters. There is no real point in this, and it discourages noobs from playing. They have also raised the entry level to PVP by a large amount because if you don't have full enchanted diamond armor, you won't stand a chance, and that armor is very expensive, especially for new players. That has restricted it to just long term players.

Additionally, because all PVP takes place in the nether around spawn, it is boring. The point of minecraft is to be able to build and mine. Minecraft PVP should include that. It used to be, I would PVP, tunnel beneath people to ambush, build makeshift towers to arrow snipe from, while using lava buckets on people who tried to get to me. Because of the nether spawn location being so built up, you can't tunnel, you can't build stuff. Its a flat plane, so PVP is just a competition to see who can click the fastest, and who has the best stuff, or the most friends. There is no longer any element of creativity to how people PVP.

We haven't actually done advertising in a while. However, a lot of players are currently joining from a certain series of youtube videos, but those are generally undesirables.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure we haven't had paid advertising since December. Currently most of the new people are coming from that idiot's videos which is why some of the noobs have seemed particularly dumb lately.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure we haven't had paid advertising since December. Currently most of the new people are coming from that idiot's videos which is why some of the noobs have seemed particularly dumb lately.

You might be right. Unless I'm mistaken, thought, our server shows up on some sites where people search for different types of servers, and even though we aren't a raiding or griefing server, when people search for those minerealm shows up because it was paid to show up on each page. That might have been an old thing, though, it might not be going on currently.

hey... i resent that i found the server from one of said videos and never asked for op nor have i ever broken a rule not to mention im active and chat often and give things away for free to people in need of it if i have.

and instead of sitting around twiddling my thumbs i make things, mine,enchant,merch, ect and am a productive member of this community

I don't think you are referring to the same set of videos. Unless you came here to grief the server after getting your free 100 diamonds and OP after saying a "code word" in chat that was added to the swear filter :P
