You walk outside and find a nuclear missle resting buried front-down into the ground. You gather the nerve to reach out and touch it, but it then explodes, for it had failed to detonate upon impact and needed only the slightest touch to set it off.

They get good. In fact, great! So good that you never stop watching them, and stay on the couch all day! The world thinks that TV is the only purpose of life, and even actors and producers end up watching TV all day. The public gets angry, because eventually, energy factories are shut down because everyone is too busy watching TV. The world gets all the portable televisions ever made and go out and riot, while watching TV. The portable televisions eventually run out of battery, and people fight to the death over batteries, leaving only you left in the world with your own normal television and a generator that you were smart enough to take and hide away, letting the rest of society fight over batteries. Eventually, you have watched all the TV that was made from the time that it got good, and realise that you are very lonely. You die in the cold, hugging your TV while breaking bad is playing.

The wipe comes, but when they do the wipe the code glitches out, destroying all private realms, wiping everyone's inventories and enderchests, and then causing millions of chunk errors that will not go away.

In a flash of scientific and magical genius... who are we kidding, someone knocked over the chemical X on a muffin/donut hybrid experiment and brought Abraham Lincoln from his grave, who abolished discrimination with one full swoop (okay, really all he did was frown in disappointment and everyone felt like it was the Penance Stare).
BUT! due to a different experiment involving ice and sonic emitters near a land fill most mammals became self aware and gained higher intelligence, and joined into the human society.
Only to bring their SPECISM with them.
