so what I've gathered from this whole argument/discussion over BSG's banning is that it's the thought that counts. VV could've easily replaced the items, but it was just the fact that BSG actually did that that made him get banned.

I think when banning staf did right- they looked simply at the crime, not the participants or their particular wealth.
If they changed the judgement because VV could pay for her lost stuff, that would show bias, and no one wants to play on a server with staff known to 'play favourites' with other staff.
I see it simply as look at the deed, not the man behind it. Whoever the victim and accused are, it shouldn't matter.
